Re: Who has results with Kodak Ektachrome 100D S8
I've shot it with a Canon 1014XL-S and a Leicina Special. With both cameras, the film was well exposed (specially with the Leicina) but it's not a very sharp film and the colours were too warm for my taste. I like high contrast and saturation, but this is simply too much... Also, skin tones were awf...

Re: Is an HD Super 8 transfer overkill?
Woods01 wrote I've also been considering the idea of using the 1.66:1 widescreen ratio as a compromise to the increased grain. I've always thought this is a terrific idea for different reasons: 1- Transfer a normal frame to 1.66 makes use of practically the same image area than any Super duper8 or ...

Re: Second Sample - 100D
Expect a VERY VERY WARM image with the Canon. Your eyes will burn while projecting the film... I hope the Nikon, with its cooler lens, make a good combo with this stock...

Re: Ektachrome 100D Sample
Try using the correct 85B filter: perfect results!
I'm tempted with the auto-loading -specially since Wittner sells the film in cans- , but I find it difficult and not that cheap. A cartridge release should be the best option, at least for me...

Re: Ektachrome 100D Sample
No, Fuji 64T is a totally different beast: almost grainless, amazing definition (nearly the same as Velvia) and beautiful natural colors (not over-saturated). Give it a try with your Fujica and you'll be very surprised... By the way, I agree with you about the grain in the Ektachrome 64T, but the co...

Re: Ektachrome 100D Sample
Yes, Kent, for transferring is fine, but for projecting I find its excessive saturation a bit anoying... If you combine this stock with a warm lens (say a Canon 1014) the results are not very pleasant. Skin tones in particular suffer a lot. Everybody talks about how Velvia is not very accurate in th...

Or you can use cold lights. In fact, they are very common these days.

Re: Does anybody regret E-64T?
I'll not miss E-64T, but Fuji 64T should be a must in the new Wittner's catalog, replacing their own repackaged 100D...

Re: Nizo 4080: Removing the internal filter
The problem was that this filter was permanently blocked in. But I managed to extract that crappy piece of gelatine last night. Not a difficult operation. 8)
Now I can use a true 85B filter in front of the lens and get much more better quality...
Anyway, thanks for the response.

Nizo 4080: Removing the internal filter
Hello,
I would like to remove the internal filter of my Nizo 4080, as it is permanently blocked. Can anybody give me any kind of orientation on doing this? Is it a dificult task? My plan is to use always an external filter...

Re: smallformat and schmalfilm magazines
Too bad I don't speak German...
I've got the complete collection of Smallformat, and I'm very sad about its end.
Thanks for your work, Juergen, and I hope that Schmalfilm stays on print for many many years...
With admiration,
Marc

Re: IS ANALOG BETTER?
I'm with Angus. I prefer Lp over CD any day of the week, and in fact I always purchase my favourite records (and I'm talking about RECENT music) in vinyl if there's an edition available. But for video, digital 1080p IS the way to go. I project the Blu-rays on a D-ILA JVC projector and the quality is...

Re: Is Blu-Ray here for the duration??
There's an issue we're not taking into account: When I (like many people) purchase a movie I like to physically OWN it. It's not just a matter of film collectionism: most of the consumers likes to go to the shopping mall, look for the available movies and buy them. Nothing compares to that. You have...
