My DeVry portable projector arrived today, I paid $19 for it from eBay. All of it looks great, even the electrical parts seem to be holding up after 86 years of use, but the belts need to be replaced. Does anyone know of a source for belts that fit it? Or belts at all?
A bit off topic, I know, but 35mm is a small gauge compared to 70mm. ;) Really, I only ask here because I know one or two of you have one.
I'm also considering building an optical sound reader for it, so I can watch sound films (well, trailers are all the sound 35mm films I have, apart from a couple educational titles). There looks to be more than enough room in the projector to fit it in. In theory, it's a very simple devise--a light, a photocell, and an amplifier--but has anyone ever made one?

One of the DeVrys I have had been converted to sound. The case was also modified to take the larger external Simplex reel magazines instead of using the internal film take-up. The case is falling apart and I plan on restoring this projector by putting it in a newer casing (probably aluminum instead of wood). I have a second DeVry but it's a silent model, also needing restoring. When converting to sound you also have to change the motor or belt pulleys so you can get 24 fps speed to play back those trailers. Most silent DeVrys only run at 16 fps.
Thanks for the belt links.
I haven't run it yet (obviously), but there are two controls on the top for the lamp brightness and the motor speed. You say it runs at 16fps, how much to either side of that can it go?
It also doesn't say what kind of lamp it wants. It looks to be a standard lamp socket, but how bright a bulb can I put in it?
