Nizo "app"

Post by grainy »

I generally hate it when people post about digital "versions" of film, which totally miss the point, so please consider this just a public service in case your friends ask.

Similar to the "digital bolex" of a few years ago (now folded) but at $5 US instead of 4000, here is the "Nizo App" for the iphone, apparently created or authorized or something, by some form of the Nizo company. https://nizo.co/

Does anyone here think these samples, apparently aimed at the fashion market, look even remotely like Super 8? To me, this seems like the lamest example of hipster appropriation yet.

I checked out some of the sample video's on my Android device and it hated them until I put it into desktop mode. Or, since they claim people using their App can get motion picture quality and become film makers, I should've tried running it through a Eumig or Century? Ha!

Anyway, I was curious who was behind this App considering it's available in English, Japanese and Russian. Maybe the KGB? No. Turns out it's a New Zealand and Sydney, Australia design company.

Unusual to have chosen Nizo as the name as that brand was not very common down here. We had mainly Canon, Sankyo, Eumig and Elmo stuff. Perhaps they're pitching to the European market.

Then further investigation got me a bit excited!
