Bolex H8 History
Hi, everybody!
I've been searching the web for this camera chronological history but I couldn't (on the other hand I've found one site for the H16: http://www.city-net.com/~fodder/bolex/h ... index.html).
so, please, if you now one or you have some file I would appreciate it if you post it or send me some info.
Thanks and best regards,
Morales

There is Andrew Alden's "A Bolex History" which shows up on eBAy from time to time along with his other two Bolex books. You can find out more at his site:
http://bolex.co.uk/
Andrew also sells Bolexes and accessories.

Thanks, Herb. I've had a look already to the site before, unfortunatelly it's mainly about H16 cameras. I am no Bolex collector (of any kind, in fact) but there are a lot of legends around it from people I know in Buenos Aires.
Please, anybody any tips about buying a H8?
Thank and long live to all small format films.

Most of the models (except the very latest EBM, EL, Rex-5, SB and SBM) were made in both 8mm and 16mm versions so the information applies to both.

I have two H8s in my Bolex collection, both non-reflex. One thing is to be sure it comes with both the side finder and the top focuser since these are unique to the H8. You can use the ones for the H16 but the side finder lens settings don't match what normally you find on a H8. Also H8Rex models have their own lens types which are c-mount but not compatible with c-mount lenses for 16mm cameras. The last H8Rex models have all the bells and whistles of the H16 Rex5 which means drive shafts for external motors and variable shutter. It doesn't have the 400' magazine mount.morales72 wrote:Thanks, Herb. I've had a look already to the site before, unfortunatelly it's mainly about H16 cameras. The TXM-20Ba/Be models should work if the motor mounting holes also have been added to the side of the camera.ECNtoo wrote:whatever you do, get a reflex. i think i have a rex4 h8 (round bottem) thats been converted to ds8 and to have a 1:1 spindle. im hoping a tobin motor will fit to this thing
If not, we could do a specially modified TXM-26 to drive the 16:1 shaft. We just did an equivalent conversion for an older TXM-10B. We have to put in a 40:1 worm set instead of the usual double thread 20:1.
