Here's the Velvia 50D

This stuff is freakin amazing. Shot with Nizo 481 transferred at Spectra. It's my first time using them and I'm very happy with their processing and telecine. What an awsome business for the format!

That looks really nice!

Especially the one with the dog looks really sharp.

What about spectra shiping to europe?
I'm guessing it could be expensive for european customers to buy it.

Looks great! I haven't had a chance to send my tests in yet, but it looks as promising as I expected.

Very nice. Like someone else said, some shots with fleshtones would be nice.

...nice post T-scan. Velvia is a lovely vivid saturation film. More of a K40 replacement than the neutral saturated 64T.

Thanks for posting.

I am SO ordering a roll of that stuff tomorrow!

BTW, one of the things about Velvia 50 in its slide incarnation is that if you expose it at its true speed, it's way too saturated for accurate skin tones, but if you expose it at ISO 40, it's much better and it tones things down just enough.

Fortunately, that's what most S8 cameras should see it as, according to Spectra.

I'll try to shoot some skin tones with the first roll. I still haven't been able to get a step-up ring for the anamorphic lens yet, but that'll be on the second cart.

In the meantime, I'll try shooting it in 35mm, if I can still find it, and see what kind of latitude I can squeeze out of it.

the way to really see a motion picture stock is seeing it in motion. is it possible to get a 10 or 20 second fullscreen clip of the stuff up so we can download?

Thanks guys. Didn't get a chance to project it yet, but it will be a nice treat tomorrow night. Spectra apparently has enough for a long steady supply, so this stuff is here to stay for a good time. I'll try and get some fleshtones up soon, but probably as you all suspect... still consistant with the overall look. If you want fleshtones, the 100D is more neutral.

Out of this transfer, I had Vel50D, E100D, 64T, & 200T in daylight. They all have unique qualities-
Velvia50D As above, super saturated, contasty, decent detail, very fine grain.
200T The most detail, latatude, great colors. The grain isn't too bad, but makes for kind of a teaser for the 7201.
E100D More neutral colors than the others, but still more saturated than K40. fine grain, a little soft. great projection film... I can see a lot of people liking it.
64T This was the first time having a pro transfer of it. Spectra made is look awsome. Very sharp and colorful. Not as grainy and noisy like the DIY stuff most of us have been looking at. I still like it better than the 100D for the colors and sharpness.

I'd love to, if I had a place to host it.
