One super 8 music video more from Finland!

Post by jukkasil »

Here is the link for music video shot with super 8.

Shot by Valtteri Kantanen (Canon 814 XL-S) and directed by Katja Haapimaa. I made workprinter transfer.

Truly impressive! :D

I never stop getting amazed by seeing what the next level on the way to the true potential of S8 is.

PS!
Do not show this to Kodak.
They will stop making 16mm film right away

The footage is pretty good. I liked the story part of it. Note to self: if a vocalist will not express facial emotion, shoot a wider shot instead of a full frame closeup, don't shoot him at all, or edit him out.

Very good.

Was it transferred to DV and edited on a computer?

Oh yeah, and is that the maximum resolution, or is that clip a lower quality version of the final cut?
Bleh blah.

I totally agree! Valtteri told me the vocalist wanted these closeups, so they shot about 4-5 reels of them! The customer is allways right.

It was transfered with Workprinter by me to 16:9 aspect ratio PAL DV resolution (720x576). That mpg-clip is only 352x288, so much lower and compressed one.

BTW. all footage is shot with Kodachrome 40.

Hello!

My first post here (and the video is my first project made on film).

Thanks for your opinions and feedback about the music video we made. I realy apriciate them. I'll be glad to ansver all questions you might have if you are intersted to know more about this video.

That's true what Jukka replied about those close ups. We shot some wider pictures also, but the vocalist did want uss to remove them from the video. So what can you do. We also had to compromise in some other things in this video, but that's something which is propably quite common in thees kind of projects.

p.s. Sorry for my bad English, I'll try to focus on it a little bit more in the future ;)

Best regards,
Valtteri
