Just came aware of a really nice review on the 2K upgrade option we have for the Universal.

Starting at the beginning of September, the 2K camera will be the only camera we offer. We are phasing out the previous HD camera. It dates back to 2011, I believe, and we started using it in 2013 with the original Retro-8 units. A dependable camera but the new 2K camera has such a wider contrast range, lower noise and sharper picture with better color that the older HD camera just is no longer a viable option. Anyway, this gentleman bought the original HD version of the Universal a couple of years ago and recently upgraded with the new 2K kit.
PS: For some reason, he says that the 16mm gate has audio. I dunno why he said that since it doesn't. Anyway, a nice review.

Re: New Universal 2K upgrade review
He says it does 16mm "optical" which in theory it probably does...you'd just need to run a separate program to convert the scanned "audio" to actual sound, right?MovieStuff wrote: ↑Mon Aug 20, 2018 9:45 pm PS: For some reason, he says that the 16mm gate has audio. Maybe talking about AEO Light? It’s a free app that can convert a scanned optical track to a wave file. Ive used it a few times with 16mm prints and it’s pretty amazing how well it sounds and syncs up the whole way.
Roger: now that you’ve conquered the DIY digital realm, any plans to do something insane like make a new projector? With Unless Kodak surprises us with one, it would be in pretty good demand with the new E100 and TriX going?
