Mind the dimensions in the original Japanse website advertisement. It is compact and weighs next to nothing.
The jumpy example can't be right. It is totally unusable and would result in everybody sending back the thing.

heres another clip.
70s ektachrome.
Definately pixalated when blown up. not broadcast quality. colours are about accurate to what the film is though. then again 1x3 cell phone video has become broadcast quality.
Needs some improvements, film stops advancing, for example.

Re: Wonderful consumer scanner for Super-8 from the East
I think this is great for new film because of the ease and convenience it offers. I believe it has a claw to pull down the frame, in theory this should present no problem with new film, though I think old film with worn or damaged perfs and splices might not run as smoothly and cause jumpiness. I would try running new film as it might produce more stable results? I also think the light, the sensor and lens are probably very inferior at that price, obviously a better light source and better camera would produce better results. I'm sure it would be easier to replace the light source with a better one, though I'm not sure how one would replace the camera.

That's worse than the worse film chain transfer I've ever seen. And I've seen some bad ones.Mana wrote:Man, thats seriously disappointing...

I ran some more tests and the film wasn't doing the jumpiness after resetting in the gate.

Good to hear! Your tests used some older films, did you run any new films? Better results? Regards

The gate on this scanner is rather sensitive. I had to reset the film in the gate under the guides to prevent the film jumpiness. Doesn't seem to matter so far if the film or old or new. I'll post more clips in a few days.
