+1 on ChrisGavin's method.

I have been turning the spindle backwards until it breaks then pulling the film out with some slight pressure on it for years. Seems like anything else is just going to add another layer of complications.

Staple two lengths together and whirl away in your G3 tank.

Good Luck

I have been opening cartridges by drawing film through the window at the front of the cartridge, but I am not able to do this without scratching the film, even though I am depressing the pressure plate. This is with monochrome film. If I break open the cartridge, I do this by hammering the two lugs at the rear of the cartridge, but this technique does not work with the Adox Pan X reverso cartridge.

Hello Pip, what do you mean that this technique does not work with the Adox Pan X reverso cartridge.". How did you open it?
Did someone experience to open the Super 8 Adox Pan X please?
