HERE'S A GOOD REASON:

Yashica 8 UP: reflex zoom lens (9-28 mm, but adapters can be used to increase or decrease focal length as with any camera), electric powered motor and zooming, automatic cds electric eye (separate battery) , 12/16/24 frames per second, rewind capability, manual override of the exposure meter, built in filter for daylight filming, has adapter ring on lens barrel which will take 46mm filters and lens hood ( underneath adapter wring you can fit series 6 filters) and it will meter speeds from ASA 10-640.

I forgot to mention, it also takes a Yashica magnetic cable release. Bought new, they came with the camera. Sometimes you can get them with the camera on e bay.

I also forgot to point out that the claw retracts horizontally as well as vertically for good image steadiness.

i also believe standard 8 is a closer relative to 16 and would be a better format for teaching photographic technique.
Quite so; so, I've got Clive Tobin working on a crystal sync moter for my H8RX.
I like that better than that huge Auricon.

Fomapan R100 looks quite promising - i actually have a local supplier for this: Silverprint

have not really tried my Standard 8 camera out fully and am itching to film with it

my diminutive B&H 624 is designed for asa 100 colour film and 400 speed b/w i was amazed to read in the manual ~ thought the early 60's/late 50's film speeds would be much slower! ~ so i should have no problems filming Plus-X set to 'colour' on this camera?
