My Film Diary - tell smallformat about your newest films
Contest: Win your preferred Super 8 or 16mm film stock*
Tell smallformat magazine about your latest Super 8 or 16mm production. This can be a film you have already produced or a film you are just starting. It may be a documentary project or a movie. Let us know about your idea, your script, your preparations, the sets, the shooting and the postproduction. Give us an idea of the viewer's first reactions. And - perhaps -- send us a link so our readers can watch the short - if it is a short. Very important: We need some photos from the set, some of yourself with your movie camera and some screen shots from your film -- in high quality (300 dpi). smallformat will publish the best submissions. By participating in this competition you grant us the right to print your story and the pictures that you've sent us - and you guarantee that you are the owner of the rights to reprint the photos.
Here is what you can win:
Super 8 section
First prize
20 cartridges of the Kodak Super 8 film of your choice (reversal, negative, black & white)
Second prize
15 cartridges of the Kodak Super 8 film of your choice (reversal, negative, black & white)
Third prize
10 cartridges of Kodak Ektachrome 64T
16mm section
5 rolls of Vision3 500T (120m each)
These prizes have been donated by Eastman Kodak. For more information have a look at www.smallformat.de

Sounds good Juergen - do you have a time limit or time frame on this? I'm working on a 16mm sketch comedy feature film - which we're shooting over the course of the year - I could jsut send in some pics from the shoot of one of the sketches I guess. How would that be?

That's fine, Scot. The competition closes Sept, 15. But we hope to get some Diaries earlier to print it in the next issues of smallformat.

Hello Juergen,
How many words do you expect the article to be?
Thanks,
Paul

20000-25000 characters would be fine, but it can be more, if you have to tell an interesting or complicated story.

Hello Juergen,
May one enter both 16mm and Super-8 sections, or only one of them? I'm starting a 16mm production soon and will probably write about it, but the prizes on the S-8 section are also quite good

You may enter a proposal in Super 8 and one in 16mm, that's fine.

The first entries have already arrived. We will publish two stories inside smallformat 3*2008. There is a report about a crazy 16mm film enthusiast from Italy who filmed his own wedding with an Arri ST16...
