JVC HD with super16 lenses distortion

Post by fritzcarraldo »

A friend of mine is shooting a film with a JVC HD with a JVC lens converter for using PL super16 lenses

He's using two type of lens, a fixed 7mm Panther and a angenieux zoom 11mm-138mm

He didn't have any trouble with the panther,

But the zoom lens has some distortion on the right side of the frame, and also has some colour distortion, (in the lower part of image it's more green, and in the upper part is more red)

I told him that this might have happened because of the huge size of lenses together with the distance of the adapter, this huge distance distorts image, and ccd gets "confused"

Well, i'm not a optics engineer myself, so, what do you think,

My hunch was that the lens are too wide, maybe a zoom lens like a 10-70mm wouldn't be a problem right?
