I have a bunch of Nizos, and I've had pretty accurate exposure readings with my 561 even with the 1.5v battery. But the Professional is my favorite, coated lens and no button battery.
I also got a 4080 recently and just tested it--with terrific results. Really stellar. The sound models are bigger and heavier, but they have a useful built in shoulder pod (I do a lot of street footage) and don't use the button batteries. And they're whisper quiet--the first time I used it I actually thought it was broken because I didn't hear anything!

I agree! I really don't believe the TTL exposure meter in a Nizo is that fantastic that it needs a precise 2.7V.Macnessa wrote:I have a bunch of Nizos, and I've had pretty accurate exposure readings with my 561 even with the 1.5v battery. I have an S56 and an 801 macro and I love them..... I want to get my little boy using them I think he's old enough at 10, does anyone have a manual for the 801 macro as i've explained how it works and stuff but..... he likes to read the manual! I must admit i'm not sure where he picked that up from but its true....... My 801 is really accurate in the meter settings.. but I still like to make sure with a meter reading. Th S56 is OK but not as good
I second the 481,561,801 models. The only difference is zoom. The Professional is the 801 but with 25fps instead. The air cell batteries are all over (Spectra sells them) and they work perfectly.
Here are some of the perks of the 481, 561, 801:
18, 24, 54fps
single frame, intervolometer 1 fpm-6fps
variable shutter with 90 & 45 angles
AutoB for open shutter time exposure (really cool and rare feature)
dissolves
nice schnieder glass
I have the 481 Macro, my favorite weapon because it's so small but has all this juice mentioned above. (my Canons have been collecting dust)

I have a Nizo 801 Macro – I love it. The meter has always read correctly.
Images come up beautiful.
The only problem I have with it is that you can’t mount it on a tripod from the base, you need mount the handle. This is a major problem for timelapse on a windy day.
I think the Pro differs – you can disable the handle and mount the camera directly.

I got really lucky and snagged the only adapter I have ever seen on ebay, that connects the batt pack to the cam 2 prong socket... and allows me to mount and power with the handle folded. Since the camera hosts the outlet there must be a bunch of these adapters in existance, but mine is still the only one i have come accross.Plastik wrote:I have a Nizo 801 Macro – I love it. Tim,
I'm sure you know all the details after reading all these reply. But I still want to vote for Nizo 801Macro... reasonable price for a very good camera. Very easy to use.
My 801M gave me beautiful images and cool function like lap dissolve, 54fps slow motion. AUTO B is superb.... capture those car headlight in lightstrips. 2 speed motodrive zoom... manual zoom. Manual override explosure control... by the way, it reads 64T correctly.!!!
I'm using 1.5V x 2 button cells, and I have beautiful result on pictures. I have no problem with that.
the 801M can be mount on tripod without mounting the handle. there is a secret tripod hole covered in the middle of the +/- connecting poles. just drill a hold on the plastic plate and the hole will appear. But of course need an adaptor power cord to connect the battery and the power hold on the camera's body.

When my life finish, every single frame of my films loop my thought…
Yes, the Professional has a link between the battery box and the handle that allows you to mount it on a tripod with the handle folded back. It also doesn't need the button batteries, the light meter is powered by the 6 AAs.I think the Pro differs – you can disable the handle and mount the camera directly.
