A secondary effect of removing the lubricant is that it will have more friction when running through a projector or telecine, so after you've delubed the film and applied sound stripe you'll need to relube your film with Ecco or other suitable chemical.

An alternative is to lubricate the film path in the projector. This is best done with a good spray polish, such as Pledge, which also helps clean the rubbing surfaces and sound heads.

One further point with regard to cleaning. It is advisable to clean film at least twice before striping. However, when using pure isopropyl alcohol (propan-2-ol) the second cleaning should be at least 24 h after the first since the first clean seems to 'activate' the emulsion surface.

For striped film, cleaning with isopropyl alcohol should not be repeated with 7 days, since the first clean seem to soften the stripe so that more is removed on a second clean after a shorter interval.
