Found some strange cameras...

Post by jpolzfuss »

Hi,

I just found two curious cameras that have been missing in the Super8Wiki:

Elmo Traveler Series - no idea how an Elmo-camera managed to be missing in the wiki ;)

Cinepresa MAX Super8 - looks like a toy-camera, but might be working (somehow)

I've added those cameras, but most of the data (e.g. 18fps only?) is still missing. If you know anything about those cameras, please add it!

Thanks,
Jörg

Wow, that looks cool/odd! Wonder if the fake magazine on top has any purpose at all?

Maybe it can be used as a projector, too?
(Of course it could be a fake toy item at all, too, which only allows viewing some 15m/50ft-cartoon-reels?!)

Isn't that projector one of those cheap Italian ones that was manufactured for viewing 8mm stag films?

Would they really put that mag on top for show? Maybe it took 200 foot loads.

Another stupid idea: Since their projector can handle Normal8 + Super8, maybe the camera can handle Double8 + Super8, too. (Hence the "mag on top" would be needed for holding the Double8-reels?!)

The cinepresa looks very cheap and plasticky. Not a high quality camera at all, no doubt fixed focus and non-zoom, non-reflex camera.

Funky design though, I do wonder if it takes super 8 carts and reg 8 reels.

... in other words: It looks like the perfect camera for any modification and for glueing it onto your skateboard/bike/RC car... for some "stunt action" ;)

Or masking taping to the door of your car for some on-road shots.

I keep meaning to dig out my Mupi Zeta 2 for such a modification...
