Re: What price Super 8 film! Something has to give...

I think for a low budget documentary film a mini dv or digital 8 format could be a better solution. You can use super 8 film as parts of your documentary when you want to emphasize something or just want to have a diffrent look. It is always interesting mixing different formats. Another solution cou...

Re: Will the recession kill off super 8?

Recently I use a handmade super 8 film (based on ilford 35 mm) loaded to kaccema casettes by an expert here: 30$ including processing and dvd version/ casette. Thus I believe we can survive the end of kodak films in super 8 but this market is so little that for a longer period we can't miss kodak. ...

Re: interested in starting a kind of filmmakers political group

What kind of poilitical activism are you interested in? Green politics or civil rights movement or something like that? I feel my ideas are close to these issues but I like to take a distance from any politcal party.

Home movies

Are there other filmmakers who like to make films about the family and just every day life using super 8 or 8mm? As a member of this forum since 2005 I just realised that a lot of us here [ not me] are pros or semi-pros making music 'videos' :) or documentaries or shorts, but I think the strong side...

Re: Exotic Super-8 film from Northkorea

I can't believe there are film stores in North Korea but even there are film shops I'm positive it is forbidden to buy as a foreigner. It's not a market ecomomy the role of money is not a same like in western countries. But a good example to compare a communist (north) and a democratic system (south).

Sorry to hear that and my condolences Angus.

I've shot my short, wasting too much time for my part of the cart, but now it is on its way to Australia.

Re: Amygdala (short experimental S8 film)

First of all a very good title and sound effects. The most important thing of course the film itself, the visuality, which I like too! I can imagine other things also, for example making other versions for the same theme but this short is well done! Of course thats just my two cents...

Re: Kopil standard 8mm camera questions

Thank you for your answers. This is part of my standard 8 experience. The first step was a russian quarz with fomapan film but I don't have the results yet. Well, I enjoyed the russian simplicity and technology but I have never expected I can find a more sophisticated, electronic driven and modern s...

Kopil standard 8mm camera questions

I bought yesterday a Kopil power zoom E. E. standard 2x8 mm camera in a very good condition. This camera seems to me probably a unique one: 12 - 18 - 24 frame speed, electronic driven, auto and manual zoom, remote terminal, battery check etc. So, its a modern standard eight camera! My questions are:...
