Re: Meopta Admira 8IIa question
I got back the film that I shot in the Meopta. I had it developed at Dwaynes, they do a great job developing but the scans are not so great. When I first watched the scan I thought there was a serious registration problem with the camera. But then I watched it on a projector (Bolex 18-5) and it look...

Re: Craig Rewind is stiff
I've cleaned and lubed several rewinds and they work great now. Just make sure to get the old hardened grease cleaned out good, that's what's making it stiff. You can use a solvent or just wipe it off good with a rag. Make sure to grease the shafts and gears.

Re: 8mm Print Film...not a typo
I assume this is to make prints from a negative not reversal film. Does anyone make 8mm prints?

Re: wolverine film scanner from B&H
That's the same one that was discussed in this thread:

If you look at the examples of film scanned in that thread it looks very jumpy. Not a very high quality scanner.

I have a Movikon 8, it's a nice little camera. I actually took it snowboarding a few years ago and it worked great for that.

Thank's peaceman! I used to look stuff up on the site quite frequently, I'm glad it's back. Like slashmaster said, it would be nice if we could add to it, pictures, data, etc.

The footage looks great. That's an impressive drone to lift an H16!

Re: Meopta Admira 8IIa question
For Regular 8mm I run a Bolex 18-5, Bolex M8 and a Keystone K109-D. They all seem to have very good registration but now that you brought this up I'll be paying closer attention to it. I do have some commercial 8mm prints, the spooky movies will be coming out for Halloween. So did you end up playin...

Re: Meopta Admira 8IIa question
I have an 18-5 Super and an 18-5L for Super 8. The 18-5 Super takes the same lens as the 18-5 Regular 8mm models but the 18-5L takes a larger diameter lens. The claw on the Meopta is at least two frames below aperture.

Thanks for the reply Angus, maybe that's just normal for it to be noisy.Angus wrote:I used to have one of those Meopta Admira 8IIa cameras.....it performed admirably!
But it was noisy, noisier than my Quarz std 8mm cameras for example.

Re: Meopta Admira 8IIa question
The Bolex 18-5 models give you some good lens choices, the M8 has a nice Kern lens. The Keystone lens is good but not quite Bolex quality. I don't have the projectors in front of me right now but I don't remember there being any tension in the inching knobs like you describe.
