Recommend me a good tape splicer?

I was wondering if anyone could recommend me a good tape splicer for super 8? I'm specifically looking for one that is used in conjunction with a roll of tape. Basically I want one with the following attributes - good quality, precision and ease of use. Ive used those dreaded tape patches / tabs onc...

Re: Robin Williams R.I.P

Good Will Hunting, Photo Booth and Insomnia are three examples of Robin Williams playing more serious roles which were quite a contrast to his usual comedic persona. I think Good Will Hunting in particular showed that he really could act and act well. The Oscar he won for that role was well deserved.

Robin Williams R.I.P

A sad day indeed. Actor and comedian Robin Williams is dead at the age of 63. Oh man, he will be sorely missed. I grew up watching him in Mork And Mindy. And he gave some unforgettable performances in the many roles he played in various movies - Good Morning Vietnam being one of my favourites. http:...

Good quality codec for Virtual Dub?

Sometime ago, someone posted a link to a good quality codec for Virtual Dub but my memory is a little sketchy. I can't recall who produced the codec but it may have been Panasonic - correct me if I'm wrong. I'd like to use a codec that's as close to lossless as possible while using the deshaker plug...

Re: Making money from youtube? Hmmm....

Well finally, I can actually get my hands on the money that Ive been earning from this video. With 181,642 views, it has accumulated $118.03. Though it took four years to make that amount lol. That's what I call slow money.

Re: Dilemma

Recently, I ordered a bunch of Ektachrome 100D films from Kodak and used most of them at my sister's wedding. The ideal occasion to capture on super 8. ahh, dam it, :( I was thinking that because 64T is a tungsten based film ( because it had the T and not the D ) and tungsten means to me artificial ...

Re: Tri-X - half a stop overexposure

So you're saying you can't adjust the exposure on the camera? As noted in my previous post, the camera used was a Canon 1014E which was the most advanced super 8 camera that Canon produced at the time (early 70s.) Manual exposure, auto exposure, single frame capability and 54fps are just some of th...

Re: Tri-X - half a stop overexposure

If you exposed the tri-x film as 160ASA it is 1/3 overexpose exactly on daylight! Yea that just shows how bad my maths is. I was recently at an event shooting a mix of Ektachrome 100D and Tri-X. Switching between film stocks, I thought I recall there was about half a stop difference in the light re...

Tri-X - half a stop overexposure

Just asking for peoples opinions on how acceptable overexposure looks on Tri-X. Obviously, this is very subjective. Ive never shot on Tri-X on super before vthough I have used Tri-X on 16mm and with that format, I exposed it correctly. Although Tri-X is rated at 200asa for daylight, the cartridge wi...

Issue with Photoshop's type tool

I'm currently using Adobe Photoshop CS5 for a project that originated on film. I'm trying to add text but it's not that simple. I used to use the much older Photoshop 5.0 and with that version, I'm given various options like font style, font style etc when I click the 'T' tool. However, tonight Ive ...

Re: 3D printed Lens Adapter

Just amazing...the potential of this thing. Excuse my ignorance of this device but has technology progressed enough for these 3D printers to produce objects made of metal or is it restricted to plastic? I remember a few years ago, seeing one of these devices on the TV news. Even though I was impress...

Weddings - don't forget your back up camera

Fairly recently, I was filming my sister's wedding with a Canon 1014E. Now, Ive heard a number of times that it's standard practice for wedding photographers to have a back up camera just in case. Even so, I thought: "Naa nothing's going to happen to me." After all, Ive been using this cam...

Re: Guns n Roses and Super 8?

The B&W in Sweet Child of Mine is 16mm. You can see crew with Bolexes in many of the shots. Don't know for sure for Paradise City but I would suspect the same thing with it being a pro shoot. Being a pro shoot doesn't necessarily mean that they will always stick to 16mm and 35mm. There are quit...
