Guns n Roses and Super 8?
Two music videos by hard rock band Guns n Roses, Paradise City and Sweet Child Of Mine, both feature grainy black and white footage. And I was wondering if anyone knew if that was Super 8 Tri-X? Ive searched on google but couldn't find any results to confirm this. Further more, would anyone have any...

Re: Kodak stops production of Ektachrome 100D
Looks very promising. Yea, I agree that the colours look quite subdued.peaceman wrote:it looks really good @ 200 ASA. Grainy, but wonderful grainy (i Prefer its grain much more than that form E64T). Color Saturation is more on the mellow side

Re: Looking for a film scanner with a specific feature
a normal light box Yea, I was considering that. I'll think I'll go with a sheet of white cardboard tilted at a 45 degree angle. I'll bounce a bright desktop lamp off a white wall and then place the cardboard opposite that wall, and under the negs. Ive just ordered a negative carrier from an eBay se...

Re: Colour Negative Cross Processed in E-6
The results are looking very promising. Out of curiosity, when you develop negative film in E6, do you lose the wide exposure latitude benefits that are normally associated with neg film? For example, if you accidentally overexposed the film by about a stop or two and had it transferred, would you b...

Re: Looking for a film scanner with a specific feature
The other thing is I am fairly new to digital cameras and I confess that I haven't done any RAW processing as yet. I am happy to shoot the negs in JPEG to simplify the process though is it true that RAW will offer greater dynamic range? If so, would that be the better option to reproduce all the var...

Re: Looking for a film scanner with a specific feature
I'm actually rethinking my options here. I only need to scan about 34 frames for a project of mine. Instead of using a scanner, I could of course employ my Panasonic G2 Micro 4/3rds digital camera and photograph the negatives. I also have a very sharp Canon FD 50mm macro lens that belonged to my fat...

Looking for a film scanner with a specific feature
I am seeking recommendations on a scanner that I can use for 35mm negative still film. However, I am after one that has a feature that may or may not be very common. And that is preselecting the level of image brightness. I know that with some scanners, the embedded software selects a brightness lev...

Re: After a cable that resembles a VGA type
Ah thanks to both of you. Ive tried looking online for 9 pin D sub to svideo cables but they seem to be an extremely rare thing. By the way, I'm also curious about the 'video out' connector (also shown) which I guess is a BNC type which outputs composite video. However, the pin looks extremely thin....

Re: After a cable that resembles a VGA type
Hmmm...could be the one. Here's an ebay auction which features a DXC-950. One of the photos shows the back of the camera which features the socket which is labelled 'RGB/Sync.' http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sony-DXC-950-3CCD-Color-Camera-/190648623640?pt=Camcorders_Professional_Video_Cameras&hash=item...

After a cable that resembles a VGA type
I'm looking around for a cable that closely resembles a VGA computer monitor cable except that it has two rows of pins - four pins below and five pins on top. You can see the socket (for this cable) on stand-alone copy cameras like the Sony DXC-950 etc. Just wondering what these type of cables are c...

Fake 'youtube' e-mails
Is anyone else receiving some strange e-mails pupportedly from youtube? Ive been getting a few of them lately and most end up in my spam box. Where it says 'From', it indicates "Youtube Service" so at first, they appear genuine. Though the messages themselves contained within the e-mails a...

2000 fps is considered revolutionary?
I was watching the 84th Academy Awards and took great interest in the section on technical achievements. It was noted that with digital high speed cameras, 2000fps was now possible. I was under the impression that for decades, there have been high speed film cameras that could run at more than doubl...

Re: eumig nautica
As Mike suggested, you can still use the Nautica underwater without the PMA. However, it will be in the macro mode permanently - use the hand strap to measure the correct distance to your subject. And make sure that the lens is zoomed out all the way to it's widest setting and that the lever thingy ...
