Topic: problems with magnetic striping on ektachrome 64T

I had a chat with Nick Maltezos from EVT Magneticstoday and asked him about striping 64T. His basic answer was 'If it can be cement spliced, it can be laminate striped. But, if there is a problem, then it can be paste striped.'

New Ebay spoof?

I received a very convincing 'question from ebay member' email this morning. It was difficult to tell the difference. However, in this one, the item referred to wasn't mine, the 'respond now' button didn't point to Ebay and there was no copy in my 'My Ebay' messages box.

Beware!

Since the Euro, UK banks seem to be trying to cash in on foreign currency while they still have the chance. Why doesn't the EU do them for restraint of trade? Sending currency seems the obvious answer, but it does tend to disappear since everything gets X-rayed for security. Either register cash, or...

With normal condenser optics, the limit to halogen lamp power that could be used for still projection of S8 without film damage is 25 W. This can be increased slightly by using a bit of heat filter glass from an old slide projector between light and film. I use a similar arrangement for copying fram...

Rob,

I have used Pledge and Sparkle. Use them good and wet for cleaning, then polish the gate components after it dries.

Petrol, especially lighter fuel, does remove dried up grease and oily dirt - BUT, get rid of all the vapour before connecting the projector to the mains!

You also asked about cleaning film. My arrangement is a pair of rewind arms with a central pole about 30" high between them, with a pulley suitable for 8mm film on top. Cleaning is with pure (commercial) isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free cloth pad, hand held and wrapped around the film close to ...

Most projectors are past their design life: not so much in terms of feet of film projected but just years. Greases and oils dry out, and general dirt gets in. To keep these machines running well requires regular and careful maintenance. Disconnect power and take a look at the mechanics in the back. ...
