Re: My new B&W 16mm music video

Wade, l I had two rolls of Orwo sitting around for months to test out and a music video seemed like a good way to try it out and not worry about stocks matching one another, Tri-X is what I had on hand to fill out the footage (I shot 500ft total). The 12fps was both a stylistic and practical choice....

Re: My new B&W 16mm music video

1080p version: https://vimeo.com/109416229 Much like the band's music, the video is very basic rock video cliches. $200 budgets don't afford much more than meant & potatoes in today's economy ;) Two years ago, when I first saw the band, I suggested a bass player and they said they'd take it unde...

My new B&W 16mm music video

Finally finished this music video I shot this summer for a garage rock band I know. All hand processed 16mm! (with some snippets of super 8) I shot Orwo N54 & N74 and cross processed & pushed Tri-X. It was all shot at 12fps on a Bolex with a Tobin motor and then made 24fps in post. Film was ...

I'd like to add that in addition to the workshop in Vancouver, Richard & Dianna will also be doing a screening on November 17 at 7:30pm at the Pacific Cinematheque.

Re: Kodak Canada Sales Numbers from 2010

Beginning with I Love Lucy, pretty much all American tv series were shot on 35mm. There was the odd series that was shot on 16mm, and even the odd multi-cam sitcom shot on 35mm. Where 16mm was common were the lower budgeted shows of Europe. In Canada our shows were on 16mm and were quick to switch t...

Re: Kodak Canada Sales Numbers from 2010

These are just what the Kodak rep told us at Cineworks, so its not like an official document we were given. The machine we had was optimized for E-6 but could do B&W reversal and we primarily wanted those numbers. The large 16mm colour negative numbers reflect industry use, primarily based out o...

Kodak Canada Sales Numbers from 2010

Back in 2011, when we were looking into whether or not to revive a Pako multi-guage film processor we had been given, we had talks with the local Kodak rep about stock sales. I recently stumbled upon this information and in light of the recent stock discontinuations, Kodak's bankruptcy issues and th...

Re: Exciting pod cast

Although there seemed to be quality problems with the recording this was quite an interesting listen. Probably worth a listen just to learn more about how the industrial system of film production actually works.

Re: Logmar Super8

This artist created a 16mm film using a 'bastardized' 3 strip process: http://www.amandadawnchristie.ca/3part- ... -in-rgb-1/

Shot on B&W film and then optically printed for the colour print.

Re: New JOBO Super 8 processing drum

Well all home cine processors are easy to load in the light ;)

Good news, as this might open up some more home processing options and maybe a few micro-labs, like Gauge, in other countries.

Re: NFL Films will no longer purchase Kodak 16mm film stock.

This is indeed bad news. I imagine that NFL Films alone was a large enough customer to warrant continued Kodak support for 16mm. I would speculate that we will get another notice from Kodak that they are dropping further stocks in 16mm and that the NFL film lab will shut down. While I'm no football ...

Re: All initial 40x Logmar Super 8 cameras have been pre-sol

The latest Kodak notice of discontinued products included A-minima loads for V3 500T and 250D. Essentially Kodak has abandoned support the A-minima. Yes you can can always create your own winds but you're going to have to source the cores on your own. Inconvenient for a hobbyist shooter but a deal b...

Re: Foma 100 filming in 90 degrees of heat?

Have you developed this film yet? Are you developing yourself or at a lab? If you've overexposed by a stop then get it pulled one stop in developing. Or you could process it as a negative, Kodak reversal stocks lose a stop when cross processed. However, I've never personally worked with this stock b...

Re: What's the current state of 35mm processing & telecine?

I believe that Fotokem is the only full service 35mm lab left in L.A., which should give you a good idea about the current state of 35mm. Beyond that Colorlab in Maryland gets some good reviews for being indie friendly. The labs used to offer cheap processing because they made a killing on the telec...

Re: Shipping films UK to Europe... how ?

I only have experience with Canada Post and USPS. But I feel the whole mail x-ray thing is either an urban myth or is related to an incident happening in the 1960s when machines were much more harmful because people thought radiation was a miracle and tobacco was endorsed by doctors. The nearest loc...
