Re: Bolex H16 Rex prism
The double prism of the Paillard-Bolex H RX cameras introduces a longitudinal aberration. Specially calculated and manufactured RX designated lenses have been introduced. Berthiot, Schneider, and Angénieux made RX lenses, too. The longitudinal focus error becomes negligible with lenses of 50 mm foca...

Don’t know much about the Pacific Rim scene, Jaakko Kurhi maybe. http://www.jkcamera.com
In any case I take Paillard-Bolex products. A complete overhaul of your camera would cost around $500. I give two years warranty on my work. If you indicate model and serial number, I can quote more precisely.

Re: Damaged (flooded) 8mm film
Have washed many films, flooded footage full of mud, you know, fine sand and else. Now your film seems to be damaged by the mold (fungus) in such a manner that the gelatine bond to the base is attacked. Coating coming off is about the worst state. You cannot fix the image before cleaning. You can tr...

Re: Film stock for Univex model A8
Hey, Wade Your Univex has a governor like all other spring-driven cameras. Without a governor the mechanism would speed up to over 150 frames a second or more, most probably loosing some teeth in the gear train. What does not form part of the mechanics is a positive stop to a spring barrel like a nu...

Re: 16mm
Your camera must have been tinkered with or it got a blow.
A technician can adjust the prism unit within five minutes,
at least I can.

Re: 16mm
Only before I return to the subject of 16mm: The announced Super-8 camera does have a reflex system to divert light onto a sensor, from whose data a monitor image is created. The early Kodak Instamatic M2 and M4 had a simple peep-through parallax finder, the M6 and the vast majority of Super-8 camer...

Re: What have you been working on lately?
Paillard-Bolex H cameras can perform comparably to professional cameras at speeds not greater than about 30 fps. In the higher range a registration-pin design beats them. Paillard used the term registration claw , I find that dangerous, but they also used the expression professional amateur from 193...
