Lens coatings reduce internal reflections on the mutliple glass surfaces of the lens, thus reducing flare and improving contrast. The improvement is noticeable with both color and black and white film. Uncoated lenses with black and white film yield a distinctly old-time quality to the image that ca...

I joined that Konvas group a couple of months ago. It's pretty active. I haven't posted, I just monitor it. I got in touch with several of the sellers recommended there and on the Konvas.com site, but none of them had clean 1M or 2M cameras with the 17EP-16APK motor at a price I was willing to pay. ...

wow, this thread is dead... Perhaps, but like gasoline and big SUVs, ultimately, I fundamentally respect the people's right to buy what they want in whatever quantity they desire. this point of view always sets me wondering. would it be ok if people threw their trash in your back yard too? you do r...

Yes, it is all relative, and still unaffordable. $2000 is inexpensive relative to other 35mm gear, but it is also more than I'm able to swing right now. I guess it's a matter of priorities. I just spent $500 on liquor and cigars today, roughly half of that amount on each. That's about a two month su...

I've been on the lookout for a good and affordable Konvas 1M or 2M for some time. The prices for the nice kits with three or four primes and the 17ep motor are still out of my reach, though. Actually, I prefer the 1M to the 2M because of its slightly smaller and lighter size, but the lenses for the ...

If it is Kodachrome 25 and not Kodachrome II, then it is the normal K-14 process and Dwayne's can process it. If it is Kodachrome II, then it is K-12 process, and no one can process it as a color reversal, but Rocky Mountain Film Lab can process it to black and white negative. However, they say it t...

It's not a lack of knowledge, in the case of KII it's actually a lack of original color dyes in the emulsion after all those years without fixation via processing. There are no color dyes or couplers in the Kodachrome emulsion. It's a black and white three-layer film that has all color introduced d...

Kodak doesn't make the color dyes for process K12 or K11 any more.

It can be processed as black and white negative. See Martin Baumgarten's Process Kodachrome K-12 process as b&w negative

I'll update my list with the correct model number. I couldn't remember the model number and didn't fee...

My first rangefinder was a market find Yashica Lynx that I had to fix- lovely camera that took great pics. I then bought an Electro 35 but didn't like it when I took it apart and never bothered putting it back together. By then I was hooked and save up to buy a Leica CL which was my favourite until...

Yashica Electro 35 (about 10) Is there something special about the Yashica that you have to buy 10 of them? I see this particular model all the time at the flea markets here in Hong Kong. Bill Special project. My Dad bought one in the early '60s and used it for 30 years. I'm fixing these up (new ga...

Dave, you mentioned in the other thread that the $50K buys you 260 of the 400 foot reels. That's 104,000 feet unless there is a waste allowance. About 50 cents a foot. The price you are having to pay seems like a retail price, and a high one at that. There will have to be some markup on the film to ...

I have a 2x50 Lomo and the 451 Lomo tank (5x16 for 33 foot regular 8mm), but the large 100 foot tank eludes me too.
