Re: safely filing out a projector gate for super 16 telecine
I'm guessing if I just file with good technique pushing down away from the film side only(as to not create burrs towards the film) and polishing with a dremel or something I will be fine, but I would love any input. I have done this twice on my R8 Eumig and on my S8 Eumig. Like you say, remove the ...

Because I'm averaring several frames, I make detail visible that otherwise would be lost in the grain.

Some 8mm pics I would like to share

Re: Vimeo or Youtube for Super8 films (in HD)
Good morning Andreas, I have started with Vimeo a few years ago because then it was offering much better quality. And I liked it because of the layout etc... Today Youtube is offering the same quality indeed and you can reach much more people with Youtube. But this is for watching the clips only.. A...

Re: Behold the power of film.
I can't resist. Same shot, 2007. Not film. http://retrothing.typepad.com/james/LOC-today.jpg It's the sharpness. Digital pictures are often way to sharp. And the DOF is the same on the entire picture. This removes all 'depth'. A bit of blur will make it look more like real film but I agree that not...

Re: Who has results with Kodak Ektachrome 100D S8
Fred, You have an online example of the Fuji stocks. Not the best telecine, but Ignacio makes the coolest home movies in the world: http://vimeo.com/groups/s8travels/videos/10891939 I'm impressed.. Very nice colors indeed. Anyway, if you want footage of Velvia to scan, I can send you some. That wou...

Re: 8mm Avisynth film restoring script
Just one thing. I mostly work with 24fps and 25fps films. In the script I see that it's made for 16.666 and 18.75fps. If I want to render the final output file to Ie. 24fps or 25fps, what do I do then? Good morning Andreas, The script can change the input to any play speed and convert it to any fra...

Re: 8mm Avisynth film restoring script
Fred's script will then render it back out as 25fps using interpolation instead Yes, but this can be disabled by setting play_speed and numerator to the same value. Denumerator must be set to 1 then. Rendering back to the needed FPS can be done with changeFPS() then. For those who do not like the i...

Re: 8mm Avisynth film restoring script
Hi Fred, Just playing around with your script here and I've never used AVISYNTH before so here are 3 newbie questions: Nice! You have the newest RemoveDirt version I hope? Also, I suggest to use VDubMod because there's a build-in Avisynth editer. 1. If I want less contour correction/sharpening. Wha...

Re: Who has results with Kodak Ektachrome 100D S8
Fred, I've tested Wittnerchrome 50D (Fuji Velvia) on super-8 cartridges and it worked like a charm. Wittner lubricates its stocks, so that transport problems are a thing of the past... Yes, I know about the lubricating, but it is good to hear that it works in practice. Can you not show some results...

Have you already used Fuji film in a Super-8 cardridge? Wittner is warning for possible problems with the film transport, in certain camera models.avortex wrote: You can get those from Wittner or Retro8. They're all of mindblowing quality.
I'm tired of Kodak problematic reversal stocks...
