Re: Colored Coupler Masking

Color reversal camera films do NOT use colored couplers, and so cannot take advantage of the enhanced color reproduction characteristics of masking. exactly. so will the new telecine stock have the orange mask or not? i can't see why not since pro telecines don't have any trouble handling it but si...

Projecting Negative Film

The emulsion of color negative films are no more "fragile" than reversal films. But any scratches or dirt on a negative will print/transfer as white, which is more visible than black in the final image. Camera films usually have "short pitch". Projectors are usually designed for ...

Colored Coupler Masking

The orange color of processed color negative film comes from the colored coupler masking system used to enhance the color reproduction. The dye-forming couplers used in the film are colored. As image dyes are formed by the coupler, the coupler is used up, forming a "mask" to compensate for...

Film on Cores

Jean-- Go to your lab and ask for some can sets. They should give you cans/bags/cores. These will be useful for short-ending any film you have at the end of the day. Also, this will provide you with a core to put on the take-up side. Good Luck PM me if you need more details. Your lab might also be ...

Bit OT, but why exactly ektachrome 64T? Why not something else? I'm not judging the film stock here before seeing it, but it would be nice to know why exactly this stock was chosen to be the given in s8 -format. Kodak had discussions with numerous customers around the world last year (some from thi...

The dilemma is that film is coated as 54-inch wide rolls up to 12,000 feet long. 10,000 cartridges per year isn't even up to a single roll yet. And even 100,000 cartridges is only a few rolls. Much easier to develop a business case when the film is also used in other formats.

There is a Remjet layer on other stocks such as 7240 and the old Agfa Moviechrome films, which otherwise I believe can be processed in E6. We can assume the new 64T stock will be a straight E6 process. E-6 films do NOT use rem-jet. Currently, rem-jet is only used on KODACHROME film, and the camera ...

16mm film is most often supplied as rolls wound on 2-inch (50mm) diameter plastic cores. Loading is done in a darkroom or changing bag.

Lords of Dogtown on Kodak 35mm, Super-16, and Super-8 films

Here's an article about the production: http://www.cameraguild.com/index.html?magazine/stoo0505.htm~top.main_hp Davis decided to record images on Kodak Vision 500T 5279 film, one of the older 500-speed emulsions, because it renders more texture than the new generation of negatives. "Thinking ah...

E64T is coated on 0.005 inch (127 micrometer) triacetate base. With the emulsion, the final thickness should be approximately 147 micrometers.

K-14 Process

For that matter I don't see why a determined amateur (or professional) could not use the same approach to design and build a K-14 machine. Bob said......that the K-14 recipes are public information, that Kodak would communicate the patent, that the chemicals needed are widely available, and that th...
