I have a screening in Kingston Ontario Tuesday
Shameless self-promotion I know but if anyone is in the Kingston Ontario area I have a screening this Tuesday. Below is a blurb that they put together. I don't know much about location except that it is somewhere on Queen's University campus. And the blurb is not entirely correct with it's emphasis ...

Re: Best travel/compact cameras? Your advice plz.
The Nikon 8x Superzoom seems to be a great fit and can handle all the asa variations but it is never mentioned as being considered a compact camera, anyone shooting with this guy? Is it a metal tank? Yes, a metal tank, and they are fantastic. I own 3. My favourite camera at the moment for absolutel...

Re: Film Festival Idea
Rick, is the featured music all originally composed by the artists? I have had 3 different bands over the years, all jazz-ish, and they either improvise cold off the floor as the films screen or sometimes they see the films in advance, so are a little more prepared but it's still largely improv. Wi...

Re: Film Festival Idea
I have been doing something similar with the Super 8 Circus here in Toronto for the past 8 years. We project about 20 super 8 films with a live band playing along. This year it will be held on March 13. Also in TOronto, the 8Fest (coming up in late February) regularly includes "performance-proj...

Shooting film in a 48 hour contest is insane. Hats off to you for having the guts, and then pulling it off.

New "super 8" digital camera
Quick, throw away your super 8 cameras. There's a new kid on the block that will provide you with a "super 8 experience" without the need for super 8 film: http://www.audiocubes.com/product_info.php?products_id=2741 and a (appropriately snarky) review: http://www.geek.com/articles/gadgets/...

Re: Canon 310 XL question
Thanks everyone, it appears that it is indeed stuck open. I was considering selling it to someone who definitely needs a working aperture. I don't mind keeping it as I would use it in extreme low-light when I'd be wide open anyway.

Canon 310 XL question
I have a Canon 310 XL and the aperture might be stuck wide open. I open the film compartment and with no film loaded look through the gate as I run it. When I point straight at a light I do not see any evidence that the aperture is closing, as I have seen on other cameras. Is it possible that the ap...

I have noticed that newbies increasingly find the forum at cinematography.com and then seem to stay there as they get thet answers they are looking for.
