Help with small gauge film type not seen before

A friend brought me two rolls of BW film of his parents wedding shot in 1939. The film is 1cm wide and has a single row of sprocket holes right down the middle of the film with the frames between the holes. The film is inside a metal casing saying it was processed by Pathescope and Made in England. ...

No further comments from anyone? Should I consider purchasing the new coming HD camcorder from Canon model HV10 just to improve my transfers? Would it do it?

DIY Home Telecine: HD or SD??

I have refined the Telecine method of KimmoH ( Forum member's Thread :http://www.filmshooting.com/scripts/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3709&highlight=) and have made transfers strictly for viewing on TV with DVDs in SD. The quality of the transfers is very good indeed using my GS400 3 chip camcorder. N...

Tips for buying a camera

I need advice on how to evaluate a camera for purchase. How do you know if the lens is still good? Is the shutter working properly? etc etc. What are the key things to look for? Where is information available for replacement parts? Are there specific cameras that have problems with aging?

Most modern headlight bulbs in north American cars are actually smaller than the bulb that is used in my Bell & Howell dual 8mm projector ( DLH )and there would be no problem in fitting one into the bulb housing of my projector as far as space is concerned. The relevance of my original posting i...

Automotive headlight bulbs as Projector bulbs?

I could not find a posting on this topic using the " Search" function and I am sorry if this was discussed previously. Has anyone tried to use modern headlight bulbs as substitute bulbs in a projector? Any theoretical objections?

I am posting two unretouched frames from the above mentioned on -the -fly captures with projector at about 16 fps. They will download somewhat slowly as I have not altered the frames in any way. The picture does not completely fill the frame as I could not get the bulky camera close enough as I had t...

DIY Telecine: My experience

KimmoH, a forum member made an important contribution to the subject of Transfers( in a previous thread) by showing that one could video the emulsion (or gate) directly without intervening mirrors and without using the projection lens. This was achieved by the use of an add on macro lens and filming...

Software for the flicker problem

I would like to hear from forum users what software they are using to correct flicker in telecine transfers in post production. I would prefer to hear from folks who actually use something and their review of the software as opposed to "hearsay reports". Thanks.

Roger, ( or anyone else out there )-If you were to design a camera for the Workprinter, what generic features would it have? My second question is this- is anyone using a currently manufactured camera with the workprinter that imports the camera data directly to the PC ( via firewire cable ) without...

Canon Optura 300 for telecine

There is an interesting thread about this camera on DVinfo forum and its possible use as a camera for producing "super high resolution" video. I see a possible use of this camera for telecine work. I am wondering if experienced folks in transfer work might comment on this. What is being su...

I bought a new Bell and Howell dual projector ( 8 and super 8 mm) in 1967 (no sound) model 466, assembled in Canada. This projector still works perfectly today. I have recently tuned it up for some home telecine transfers and I am amazed at how well this machine was made. It has a zoom f/1.6 15 to 2...

I've been a member for a year and visit these pages almost daily. My main interest is home telecine transfers and am working towards editing my fairly extensive 8mm library of films to DVD. Currently I don't own a camera and don't shoot but the forum is inevitably getting me back to it. Shooting 8 m...
