Re: Has Super 8 beaten obsolescence?
I think some old techniques are surviving, although there are no 100% hard reasons for that. I'm always a bit surprised that some people state that the Super 8 format is so much better than modern standards. I really dont think, that the "Superiority" of the format is the reason why it is ...

Re: Re-adjusting the AGFA Microflex 200
Just wanted to share this with you: I got my Plus-X test cart back, and am very pleased by the results. The autoexposure worked well, and the images are perfectly sharp and steady. I'm happy with my Microflex. This will be my point-and-shoot camera.

Re: Is this normal for 4008zmII?
Thanks for the correction with viewfinder+cds cell. I know that you cant compensate for a bad battery with that pot... I basically wanted to oppose the view that a certain drop of the needle would be normal behaviour due to less light getting to the CDS Cell. This is not nomal behaviour, as there is...

Re: Is this normal for 4008zmII?
some drop is normal due to the light path design of the camera independent of the voltage drop from the power supply. No, because... Second thing to mention here is, that the internal light sensor *is* in fact getting different amount of light when the camera is running, because the moving mirror d...

Re: Is this normal for 4008zmII?
I have the same phenomena with my camera, so please be careful, as this issue probably can lead to overexposure (and underexposure: see below), and even worse: can lead to a raising exposure at the start of every scene, when the camera erroneously starts compensating for its "false" measur...

Re: Re-adjusting the AGFA Microflex 200
Hey Tim, i think, seriously every professional camera technician should be able to make this modification. It is basically just trimming some pots in the inside, and (i'm not 100% shure if its necessary) removing the filter glass from the CdS Cell. You don't have to do all the hassle that I had, whe...

Re-adjusting the AGFA Microflex 200
Hi there, i just wanted to share my newest adventure with you, i don't know yet if it finally worked, but i'll post it here, when i've got the first results. I have no idea if i did everything right, or of this method is the most effective one. But I don't have light metering equipment, no lightbox,...

Beaulieu 4008 ZM II Schematic
Hi,
does anybody has a copy of the schematic (PDF, JPG or something) for the electrical circuit of the Beaulieu 4008?
Thank you!

Re: Beaulieu 4008zm shutter speed at 24fps
Thank you, 71er. Its interesting, because this seems to be a major issue of the Beaulieu, thats is not often mentionned. The fact I read quite often about the 4008 was, how cool the shutter mechanism is, because it does not channel off light to the viewfinder. Which is true, but this benefit then is...

Re: Beaulieu 4008zm shutter speed at 24fps
Tell me if Im wrong but it appears that a beaulieu 4008 at 24fps is actually 2/3 to 1 stop slower than comparable s 8 camera's with a rotating shutter. It seems to me that you are right at this point: According to the manual 2 fps results in 1/7 seconds when the variable shutter is adjusted to &quo...

Re: Just got my Beaulieu 4008 ZMII... and some questions
Hi there, i've now shot some rolls with my camera, but with only *partly* nice results. I have a couple of questions regarding the camera: 1. When i'm in manual-mode, the Lightmeter needle moves down, when the (main) motor starts running. It moves down equivalent to about 1/2 f-spot, and moves up ag...

Porst Sound 100 Schematic, anyone?
Hi, the Speed regulation cirquit of my Porst Sound 100 does not work properly, its quite strange, sometimes, it runs well for minutes, then it occasionally slows down, and does completely random speeds, going up, down, slowing down up to 2 frames per second... chaotic behaviour... after some 30 seco...

Re: Just got my Beaulieu 4008 ZMII... and some questions
Thanks for writing, Mike! I'm happy that i won't have to buy a new battery, as the old one works. I was able to shoot 5x3,5 Minutes (without cartridge) at 24fps, after charging, and used the Zoom and Reglomatic alot. I think that the energy will be absolutely sufficent for finally shooting a roll. O...

Just got my Beaulieu 4008 ZMII... and some questions
Hi, after having shot some very childish Super 8 Films when I was in Elementary School, which was 19 years ago, I'm now getting back to this old topic :) I could afford my dream camera, and got it today. I'm really happy and looking forward to shoot some lame and trivial footage ;) First of all, I n...
