Re: where is widened super8 gates going?
What happens with Beaulieu 4008 is that you no longer have the full wide option after the modification is done. That said if you plan to scan your material at the same distance: scanner ccd and celuloid if its zoomed in material or more of the wideangle sort. Here is a test with a Bealulieu with an ...

Re: a tribute - Super Duper 8 footage
Excellent information! Will try that under cranking next time I go for a shot.
And regarding stabilisation, the two first cuts with the blue house and the glimmering decor was stabilised in AE, the rest is only right out of the camera.
Take care,
David

...And the process of making a super 8 movie. I love the feeling of geting the stock back from development, pure joy when actually see the results. Nothing can be compared in the digital era.

Re: a tribute - Super Duper 8 footage
Its a Beaulieu ZMII with Angenieux 6-80 lens.
The small amount of grain comes from the stock. And the sharpness can probable be better, because the modification to SD8 you have to center the lens, but also maintain the correct distance. Hard job to say the least.
Best,
David

a tribute http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/9688/47302330.jpg This really really short film was made while testing the latest modification of the camera: Super Duper 8. The stock that was used is a 2 year old Pro8mm 50D. And the HD transfer was done by Uppsala BildTeknik. http://img41.imageshack.u...

Re: Focus goes in and out
Hi ekoehler,
That sounds like a possible explanation. So it shouldn't have anything with the stock or anything like that, as for the electronics inside the camera.
Thanks,
David

Re: Focus goes in and out
Yes it's hard to see. I have sent an mail to a Beaulieu technician I send my cameras for service. I'll respond if you gives any info. Here is the compare with 200% crop: http://img641.imageshack.us/img641/2825/compareo.jpg It's exported as tif then jpeg and jpeg so not so much to expect in keeping t...

Yeah I think your right about the film grain being diffuser in the blurry one. How come a transfer can change it's focus?

Focus goes in and out
Hi, Anybody experienced that focus differs with Beaulieu models durring a shot with the same settings? As you can see on these two stills from a shoot, the focus has gone from overly sharp to quite unfocused. And since almost the whole shot consisted of the unfocused type I wonder if anybody know wh...

Re: How to: Setup UWL III and Optivaron 6-66
Hi,
I found it very hard to adjust since it easily flanks over to an lose position. Mostly it's stiff, but when it's adjusted correctly only a minimal touch will set it lose. The macro control should be more tight I think.
Best,
David

How to: Setup UWL III and Optivaron 6-66
Hi, just read the manual for the Schneider Kreuznach Ultra Wide Lens III UWL. Unfortunately it only describes how you set it up with an Nizo camera. So what I'm wondering is how you sit it up with an Beaulieu Optivaron 6-66? I have read if I remember correctly, that you would be able to zoom through...

Re: Schneider-Kreuznach UWL III with "Few Fine Scratches.&q
Old thread, but I have a question on what will happen if you use an wide angle attachment on a lens that don't have macro function? Will it be usable at al?
Thanks!
Thanks!
