Re: Bargain 35mm cameras and some more

Many many EOS cameras around unfortunately, but not so many EOS lenses which are sought after for Canon DSLRs... especially the longer lenses. There's a reasonable market for 35mm still photography, but as inlieubeaulieu says most people prefer the older classic cameras for that. Nice that there's a...

Re: Kodak Film Prices

We still don't know what price Kodak will want for their 16mm Ektachrome but hopefully it will be affordable. If Kodak follows their current pricing structure 100' of 16mm Ektachrome would be US$60. Reperf that into Double Run Standard 8mm and a 25' roll could be had for $15, or perhaps $20 if one ...

Re: Kodak Film Prices

Reperfing one edge perf'd is difficult. Most reperf'd film comes from two edge perf'd 16mm. Doubt EKchrome will be two edge perf. There may be someone that can reperf. One edge 16 but I don't know who that is. Any info would be helpful. Yes I now realise this. Although there's perhaps just a chance...

Re: Kodak Film Prices

Not that I am expecting the 16mm Ektachrome to be cheap (anyone heard anything recently ?) but at least you are paying for a quality product. And I'm sure somebody will start re-perfing for regular 8mm cameras as well.

Re: Kodak Film Prices

If you thought those prices were crazy, here in the UK, the new Ektachrome is being offered for around £54 including VAT, some even higher. That's nearly $69 at the lower price! I remember buying Kodachrome 10 carts at a time for under a tenner a roll and that was process paid in the early Noughtie...

I do. I have a Bell & Howell Eyemo 71-C.
Nice! I have always fancied the Eyemo. Not many came this way UK I think. Also the Devry lunchbox camera... regrettably once I let one slip through my hands due to lack of funds, should have grabbed it.

Re: Kodak Film Prices

The trick is to do volume, Thousands of 35mm cameras want to see Ektachrome at least in 100-ft. rolls. It can’t be that difficult to sketch out a marketing scheme. It’s a film, so traditional methods seem appropriate, even distribution via photo dealers. Shop windows, the shelves from Toledo, Ohio,...

Re: Kodak Film Prices

Time for me to shut up too. Of course super-8 was always the simple-to-load format and some of the cost will be for that convenience. Though I don't think many new film-makers mind the little extra time loading a regular-8 camera, which is usually more flexible with speeds and so on. So in 2018 the ...

Re: Kodak Film Prices

They may have got their price right for the initial run, as they sold out fast. But I'm sure most buyers sofar are people already heavily in to film-making and are just relieved that there is something available from Kodak at last. Maybe also professionals stocking up their freezers again. What I'm ...

Re: Kodak Film Prices

Pricing below long-run average costs is a very short-sighted plan also. Eastman Kodak ("EK") has a small product base and revenue stream. Yet they have huge overhead. A coating line + building that sits there all year but for the few times that it coats a master sheet is extremely expensi...

Re: Kodak Film Prices

Silverdream though does have a point, even if Ektachrome is selling well. I bet it's the enthusiasts buying it now, not the casual folks, who should be encouraged. Many fairly young people have old cameras in their attics and want to try them out again, out of curiosity, and they are potential film-...

I still have FP3 16mm from 1960s that gives a useable image :)
I rate it at about 50 ISO
some though is a bit shrunk

Re: Ektachrome Is Back!

With 16mm it will be interesting the new price :-w Hopefully they'll do it in 100ft daylight rolls again. If not then 400ft cores. I've never really understood though why 400ft cores of film aren't that much cheaper than four 100ft's, when you consider that they give you handy spools as well as prob...

Re: Ektachrome Is Back!

I bought a few rolls of the 35mm slide film that is available for pre-order from Freestyle Photo. It sounds like it will be $40 per cartridge for Super 8. I've still got Ektachrome in my freezer so probably won't be buying for a little while. I'm sure many of us will be greatly interested in your e...
