I thought it looked great in both videos. But I was distracted by the out of sync vocals in both pieces. I know its hard to get sync in both Super 8 and slow motion Super 16, but if you make a video with a talking head I need some sync there. Otherwise, absolutely beautiful. Is it my internet connec...

Alex.

I also used Jpeg compression on all my stills, however they did range in 100+ k in file size. I have been told the site doens't look as sharp on a PC computer. Any ideas on making both platfroms happy, keeping a small file size, and still keeping things sharp?

yeah they are all jpeg'd. I even made a separate page for larger images in the photo section. I think its the flash files that are bogging down my speeds.

Thanks everyone for the thoughts. Regarding the demo reel not really being director/producer friendly, that's an interested idea I never really thought about. I can see how many directors would be interested in seeing how a cinematographer uses shots in order to convey the directors vision and how i...

Hey thanks for the feedback.. So the images on Photo are running at like 300 x 260 dpi. The camera most of all these images were shot with was an Arri-S 16mm camera, but yes, the individual who mentioned that the misc. section has a photo with my Nizo 6080. Pretty good eye for a super 8 camera! The ...

andy I think the issue is more related to the speed at which one can capture on the mac rather than just the ability to make it work. If the new G5's running jaguar OS 10.2 or 3 can't capture at 6 fps I would be amazed. Theyre supposed to be the "worlds" fastest personal computer.

Is your Aaton S16 modified? Does if have variable shutter?

If not, what cameras do have these two features?

Thanks!

So do you think the picture quality is acceptable for a "video tap" unit which one would most likely be using for framing, monitoring of live action, and reviewing takes after they have been shot? I have no idea about how to power the flat screen if I ended up buying it. Would you make ano...

Hey Paul, I just wanted to follow up with you and ask how that setup came through, especially the flatscreen monitor you bought for $200. The monitor looks kinda used in the photo on ebay but they still post that they have tons in stock. Is it a good setup going with the CCD security camera, 12mm le...

I own an Arri and used a R16 but it broke because the damn thing was so delicate it broke on me whithin a couple days. I want to upgrade to S16 and found much of what was said here facinating. The NPR, judging by ebay photos, looks to be like one of the most uncomfortable cameras to handhold or to w...

Hey Paul your setup looks great. I was thinking of getting the same camera but was worried that the camera couldn't focus close to a viewfinder. Obviously it does. Do you think trying a wider lens like the 8mm or the 4mm would give a wide view that would work best for my Arri S 16mm camera? Your cam...

The difference you will find in 16mm cameras are mainly in registration. If you have read on the Arri cams they have a pin registration that holds a solid frame in place for ever 24 that pass the gate each second. Registration and lenses are the only real factors that will affect the 16mm image from...

Film titles off an LCD, how does it look???

I am planning a 16mm film coming up. I was curious if anyone has shot any film format using an LCD monitor like the Apple HD display. I want to do Black background with white titles over that. I want nice contrast like titles you see made at labs. Can I get close to that with a combination of shooti...
