Not bad, it really gives an interesting soft glowing look to the titles! What I don't like is it just looks like really heavily compressed video, but I guess that's not really bad. The biggest problem I have is the length and music, it could be a little shorter everything has this drawn out floaty ...

Hello Everyone, Interesting Camera...

It's certainly been a while. After a bit of scrounging around the digital filming realm, I came across an interesting camera that has qualities that best resemble that of an old super 8 camera (although technically NOTHING like it) It's called the Mattel Vidster and its slowly becoming known with th...

What you probably have bought was a good camera, a very professional one indeed however it is not the normal kind of camcorder you are thinking of. This is a camcorder that requires an external source for recording since there is nothing to put actually INSIDE of the camcorder. For recording you ca...

Come to find out I was slightly confused by what VTR meant. I apparently used one before years back but during the make of this thread I had no idea I had actually used one. It was not until afterwards and meeting up with a friend that he showed me an SVHS VTR and it came back to me. I possibly was ...

astronomical purposes? Yes, Astronomy. I have already rigged up a device to lock it onto my Newtonian telescope. I also plan to do some fun shoots with it here and there for a local TV station that I am in. As for the definition, I should have chose VIDEO CAMERA instead of camcorder now that I look...

Odd question

Quick question for you all, yes, I already know this is not a film question so please don't haggle to me about it, anyway... I have a proline panasonic television broadcast video camera and I noticed that there is a switch that says SAS and when I switch it on, my shots instantly get darker. What is...

Yeah, what Joe said. Check in from time to time. We're all wrestling with the same issues. Besides, let us know how the film is going. Oh I will from time to time. Check out what's new and what's going on in the world of small gauge film but not as often as I usually do. I'll always try to ke...

Its Been Fun

Well I came to this forum seeking important advice regarding film and how to use it. I would like to thank you all for your wonderful help. Without you all and the help of this forum, I wouldn't know a fraction of what I do today. I ended up getting a perforation on my Bolex 160 lens that distorted ...

Re: WANTED: super 8 movies for projection

Hey, I just got setup in a new studio space and have a great picture window overlooking one of the main streets in toronto. I've been projecting some old kung-fu, godzilla and various movie trailers onto a a sheet covering the window. Been getting some great responses from people passing by. So doe...

Re: US Customs returned my Bolex

About 3 weeks ago or so I sent a PL to Bolex Bayonet mount adaptor to a customer in the USA. Yesterday, out of the blue, it was returned by the couriers. I tracked it online, and it had spent 2 1/2 weeks or so being held awaiting customs clearance in the USA. I phoned up the couriers to find out wh...

Pardon me, no offense intended, but, I think you just enjoy wasting others time trying to be clever with your antics, and probably deserve having Alex for a roomate. Why would anyone care if your images are what you think they might be? Maybe the contest should have been deciding if YOU are real or...

Re: NASA and 8mm?

Recently watched the trailer for the upcoming docu "In the shadow of the moon" where you have two brief scenes where an astronaut holds something in his hand that looks like a 8mm camera - even more like a Super8 camera. Too small for 16. Okay it seems that they have some special case bui...

Remember, keep in mind guys, this is just for fun. :D It is indeed a fake image. My goal was trying to mimic a celluloid type image, and what threw it off was the perforations on the side. I didn't notice until after I posted the image that it was FAR too many for 16mm or even 35mm. That was my majo...
