I have built an intervalometer. I havn't quite got it working yet, but it's not far off. It's approximate but quite accurate. I guess if I was to make a scale for the potentiometer it could be quite precise. It's built from a simple 555 circuit, a relay and the Canon remote cable. Not too many featu...

I assume for Hollywood etc if you're paying 10million plus per star your film stock and devpt costs are the least of your worries. Perhaps we'll end up with lots of films originating on film, but being projected digitally, if the average print only lasts 40 runs. I'm sure I've seen some that are al...

It will be a super-8 of a mini dv. It might not look any better, only different. It really depends what you are going for. You would need to contend with the LCD refresh rate too.

The Canon XLS models are not crystal synced, from what people have told me they do run more consistent timing than the non sound models. They can be modified by peolpe such as The Film Group . There are other options too such as pilotone or software syncing, but these may come at a loss of quality a...

Yes, DV MUST be interlaced not true. dv is a frame based codec, with adaptive tweaks to handle interlaced source material with a lot of motion correctly. the progressive data is converted to interlaced again at output, since all sd video is interlaced by definition, but the dv format is actually pr...

I can't really condone hitting a camera, but I guess if it's no good then it can't hurt much. If you have lots of super 8 cameras already then that's kinda unfortunate, but a lot of the time it comes to luck when buying them. It might not be worth the hassle of setting up this photosensitive device,...

I wouldn't be surprised if it is not stuck in a particular mode, but a particular aperture. The needle may move, but I'm not sure if the iris will respond. Mine doesn't appear to, but mine is open wide so the camera now serves as a very suitable crash cam for gigs.

If you're suggesting that it's a Canon 1014 Autozoom then the battery compartment is illustrated in this diagram. http://usera.imagecave.com/jayaldous/Canon_1014_3c.JPG.jpg This is the Canon 814 Autozoom http://super8wiki.com/index.php/Canon_814_Autozoom_Electronic . How is it not working? I assume you can turn the knob and the needle doesn't move.

I have one where the know wouldn't pull it out, it was later pulled out but that didn't help the situation at all.

Some arsehole skater punks with their daddy's Canon HV20 saw my 814xls and thought it comical to scream about my "old piece of shit camera" and urged me kindly to "upgrade that worthless shit, man!" But when I turned the tripod towards them (with the camera off as to not waste a...

Chinon Pocket 8 - Repairs/Motor

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any simple suggestions for a Chinon Pocket 8 ( http://super8wiki.com/index.php/Chinon_Pocket-8 ) that won't function with a 64T cart inside it. The motor turns over without film loaded, but it seems it's a little too weak to push film through. The next step will be ...

I thought it was insipid. A plot that makes absolutely no sense. Two problems offhand: 2027 would be way too early for something like this to happen (why are SF films always placed too soon in the future?) and, didn't it occur to anyone in the film that ONE child would not be enough to restart huma...
