Jurgen Lossau's Super 8 Magazine

I've had annual subscriptions to Jurgen Lossau's SUPER8 magazine, with four issues promised each year, but the last issue I received was #5, dated April 2022. That's one issue of this small, slender magazine for an overseas subscription rate of, as I recall, 65 Euros. Has anyone received later issue...

Re: Seized Filter Holder/Adapter

The machine shop reported everything had been cross-threaded but is now working smoothly & easily. The previous owner managed to cross-thread everything AND drive it all the way home; it must've taken quite an effort.

Re: Seized Filter Holder/Adapter

Factory markings on the lenshood and filter/holder adapter indicate they're compatible ( viz , both are marked 20x12 20x15). This metal lenshood, made expressly for Angénieux 12 x 240mm and 15 x 300m lenses, is uncommon, so I've arranged to send it to a machine shop here in the USA specializing in t...

Re: Seized Filter Holder/Adapter

To the naked eye, threads on the hood and on the filter/holder adapter seem fine, but they must be deformed somehow. There's no foreign material in them, and yet, even after I was able to start the filter holder/adapter turning with the strap wrench, it needed the strap wrench to remove it all the w...

Re: Seized Filter Holder/Adapter

With my bandsaw, I fabricated a wood block with radiused ends that allowed me to secure the lenshood very firmly between the dogs of my Ulmia bench. I protected the outside of the hood with non-slip rubber mats and, using a strap wrench, managed to unscrew the filter holder/adapter. I've not yet got...

Re: Seized Filter Holder/Adapter

Thanks for suggesting these tools. I should've said the diameter of the rings I'm attempting to remove are nearly 115mm. All except the last tool shown are (or appear to be) too small. I've removed very stubbornly stuck adapter rings (including those cross-threaded) using strap wrenches, but I've ha...

Seized Filter Holder/Adapter

I’ve acquired an Angénieux lens hood whose filter holder/adapter has resisted all of my efforts to unscrew it. I’ve used penetrating oil, letting the oil soak in for at least twenty-four hours, and applied non-slip strap wrenches to no avail. Any recommendations?

Re: SOM Berthiot reflex 17-85

The SOM Berthiot C-mount lenses that I have use a C-mount that's spring-loaded. The orientation of these lenses on the camera is adjusted with a tool that looks like an oversize bottlecap (it's about 40mm in diameter) with four prongs on the underside set at ninety degrees to each other. These prong...

Bolex COTAC External Battery Container

The Bolex COTAC external battery container (see http://www.rockycameras.com/ekmps/shops/rockcameras/images/-bolex-h16-ebm-esm-motor-bolex-h16-ebm-esm-battery-container-19.99-%5B3%5D-76109-p.jpg) has two mechanically identical receptacles. The plug of the Bolex battery charger thus fits both receptac...

Yes, the cable actuates the switch perfectly. I think it's the "official" cable release you suggested ought to exist.

Re: Single frame problem

. . . strange that the Bolex did not produce "official" release cables for this case, it is clear that that little hole on the Rexofader blade was left in anticipation of that. I found a Bolex cable release that's a perfect fit for the Rexofader. Sheathed in black plastic, it's about 70 c...

Re: Single frame problem

It's a version that has an angled tip, but there's nothing special about it. You'll just need to find a cable release that has enough 'travel'. I'm sure there are many of them. I'll look for others that may work (I've dozens) and let you know what I find.

Re: Single frame problem

Using a Gitzo cable release threaded into the Rexofader, I was able to operate an H8 RX4 with the Rexofader functioning in single frame mode. The cable on the Gitzo extends about 27mm from the threaded nipple, and it's in no danger of breaking.

Re: Siemens 800 Regular 8mm Projector

Thanks. I found the bulb for $15.99 + $5.45 shipping at Amazon. The price at Van Eck for the same item was the equivalent of $34.60 + $29.21 shipping.
