Stepping up

Having finally worked out what the front thread diameter of my Angenieux 8-64 zoom is - 46mm - and bought the necessary step up rings to fit some 58mm filters I recently acquired. I am very interested to discover other adaptable filters/lens for my Beaulieu. For example, a 46-52mm adaptor for Nikon ...

Nice artsy photos! Great. I think this should set the record straight on getting into the standard 46mm adapter ring - the most obvious choice perhaps being a 46-52mm so as to use Nikon or Canon filters on the super 8 cam. Cheers, Mike Thanks Mike, actually the reason they look artsy is because I w...

Thanks for that Matt. I'm guessing that paper would give a crisper result than the screen, which being cloth, has a cetain amount of texture in it.

Doing it dirty

I just bought myself a projector, well to be precise I bought myself a couple of tripods, a 1000w/500w Revue 1000 GS halogen lamp, an Erno E501 viewer, Würker splicer, set of 58mm filters and diopters, a portable screen and a projector all in excellent condition and for less than 112 Euros total ...

Some series filters are also direct screw in - would some PLEASE post an image of the lens in question? I know what lens it is since I used to have it, but have since sold it off. Yes, 8x8 with the S7 markings is what I had - hence, series 7 drop in - unless you happen to find the right threads on ...

I have a Beaulieu 4008 with an Angineux 8-64mm lens and I tried putting at 49mm 85B filter on it but it's too small. I think it would take around 52mm but I could be wrong. The Angenieux 8-64mm without the 8x8 Series 7 adaptor , has a 46mm thread so you need a 46-49mm step up ring. I got mine on eB...

I nominate Sergio Corbucci's Il Grande silenzio (The Great Silence) with Klaus Kinski's electric performance as Loco. One of my favourite Django era Spaghetti westerns's with an unforgettably dark ending.

I like the framing in the Kodak Vision 2 better and it seems more stable too. But I prefer the overall exposure of the Ektachrome despite its blue hue. The background in the Vision 2 (houses etc) on the left of frame seems a little underexposed compared to the Ektachrome but that's only an observati...

There's an interesting precedent for your project in the work Walker Evans undertook on New York City subways with a Contax 35mm still camera in the late 1930s and early 1940s. Evans concealed the camera under a topcoat and ran a cable release down his right sleeve. Thank you very much for that I w...

Are you looking at split diopters (close up lens on one half and optical glass on the other)? ... the more common term for these is "split field" diopter... Split field diopter is exactly what I meant. I have a couple coming in the post as part of a bundle of things that I was very lucky ...

The Ikophot is a selenium cell meter and has no batteries. However I think the sudden burst of activity it gave me was merely a final death rattle because it is now quite definitely bereft of life, deceased and no more. Perhaps I would be better off with a slug! Thank you for your advice John and Mo...

I also have a 4008zm2 with the angenieux. I don't know the filter size without the sunshade/series VII filter holder. Forty-something mm sounds about right whether this is a "series" size or not I don't know. I use a series VII to 55mm adapter with the metal sunshade. My Angenieux 8-64mm ...

Can an old lightmeter fall asleep?

My elderly Ikophot arrived today (my senile Leningrad has been permanently retired to a darkened corner of a cupboard drawer)and I was not at all surprised to discover that it seemed to be dead. Not a flicker of the needle. So I thought "Serves you right Smith, buying duff old tat off eBay - wh...
