I'm a long time user of Vegas Movie Studio; only 4 video tracks, but soooooo intuitive, and the bundled DVD studio software is also good. I've recently moved to Mac (since July) and have been trying to get to grips with Final Cut Express (can't afford FCP) - and it's DOING MY HEAD IN!! I'm su...

Re: That's it!
Out of interest, I looked at the film itself, and I couldn't see any images at all on the first couple of feet so was pretty worried that I'd got nothing at all... Is this kind of thing normal with negative film? I was expecting to be able to see something more like 35mm still negatives... A film *...

Re: That's it!
Yep you got it :) john.. What type of footage did you shoot and what stock did you use? One was a roll of 200T shot at the Latitude festival earlier this year (lovely sunny stuff!), with a large chunk of footage shot 'on the road' on the drive back home; the other roll was 500T, some of which was s...

Thanks guys
Thanks for the replies everyone... Yeah, ultimately I'd love to use FCP (and Logic Pro). Whilst I'm at it, a Mac Pro wouldn't go amiss either. Unfortunately, I'm on a bit of a budget :) so MacBook+FCE+LE it is for the forseeable future - next upgrade has to be more memory! I've currently got the ori...

That's it!
Hi John, Yep you got it :) Once I dropped the clip onto the timeline, I was able to select Modify->Speed.... and there it was. My background is more the audio side of things - for a WAV file for example, there's a field in the file header which specifies the sample rate; in that case it is easy to m...

Final Cut Express question...
I just got my telecined footage back from the Widescreen centre today (hooray!) - and want to use the video in Final Cut Express (I'm a recent Mac convert). Now my problem is that I got it tk-ed at 25fps (for PAL) since in the past I have been able to simply modify the frame rate in my editor (was u...

Agh! It's all so confusing :( I can't find any reference to Andec's 'test package' - is there a link? I've used Andec in the past (three rolls of Tri-X), and for that I was able to send it to Upsalla Bildtechnik for telecine, which was a nice cost-effective way of doing things; however Kent is not a...

Widescreen Centre...?
Has anyone get any email response from the widescreen centre recently? I've roll of 200T and 500T to get processed/Telecined, and asked a couple of questions... no response. Just wondering whether it's my email account playing up (although I get all my other expected email), or whether they really d...

I have looked at the websitem but have been put off by the fact that I'm in York, and they're in London... however, I have only recently realised that a train to London is only a couple of hours, so I really whould look at the courses a bit more closely. Learning about the processing would be very i...

Manual SLR...
My tip for getting an SLR for experimentation: Join your local 'freecycle' mailing list ( http://www.freecycle.org/ ); I see SLRs on my local list reasonably frequently - since people think that they are not worth anything now that everyone is 'going digital'. In fact I just picked up two Yashica SL...

Yes, I'm on there - resubscribed in December I think... I was on it years ago (when it was free!) and got a couple of bits of soundtrack work then; so far I haven't got any work out of my current SP subscription - but I'm busy with other stuff ATM so that's my choice :) My profile: http://shootingpe...
