Re: beaulieu MR8 lens mount
I checked my MR8 manual, and it says that the camera takes D-mount lenses. It then gives the exact same mount specs as Marriott (15.8 mm. dia. - 32 threads/inch - normalized threading length not exceeding 3.8 mm.), so I suspect the info on the Marriott site is incorrect, a typo most likely. Thinking...

Re: beaulieu MR8 lens mount
Well, according to the on-line manual at Marriott Cameras http://www.marriottcameras.co.uk/instru ... ctures.htm, it takes C-mount lenses, but I could've sworn it took D-mounts. I've got a manual at home and will check it out. I'll report back if I find anything different.

Re: Elmo 912 question
I've got some lube ("Grease-A-Bearing") that was used on my P-3 take up spool, do you think this would be ok? If I recall, it's a metal piece that is squeking, so this shouldn't damage it.
BTW, who do you know "in town" who fixes these things?

Re: Anyone tried processing 16mm through Walmart?
so, all this is great socio-ecomomic commentary. But, what I'd like answered is who does their processing? Who are the vendors that walmart, SAMs,costco use? I trust, much more, sending my film to a shop that does dailies and has some accountability for the results. Why not contact your local Walma...

Elmo 912 question
Didn't want to hijack the previous thread on Super/Standard 8 viewers, so am posting this here. I've got an Elmo 912 that squeaks pretty loudly when the film is being advanced. It's the sprocket/framing nob that's making the noise, which it also does if I turn the nob when no film is threaded. My qu...

Re: Fomapan R reg 8mm development labs?
Yale in Los Angeles will do it, though they let you know up front that there could be problems. They told me that they process Fomapan at the end of the day's run, and add an extra dose of "X" (sorry! forgot what exactly they do add :) ) to the chemicals to reduce the possibility of proble...

With all due respect, Al, I hope that this is not the sum of your "great wisdom" on shooting and lighting super 8 stock.switar king wrote:My advice on lighting:

Once you've determined that the meter works, or get another one that you know works, you'll need to do some tests to determine the amount of light loss, if any, due to the viewfinder and zoom lens. You can do this be metering the same subject in the same light with both the external and internal met...

Wittner's got the Nizo-style hoods in rubber and metal, the former for under €5 and the latter for around €20. Check them out here.
They also have lens caps for the Nizo on the same page.

Re: Just buy Wein cells
I believe they're talking about the cells needed to run the camera, not the light meter.kentek wrote:Wein makes a 1.35v batt that replaces the original PX625 & PX13. I bought mine from Amazon.com for <$5.00 each.
