interesting for wedding 'videographers'

Great idea, and I like the part about how "celebrities don't need to be taught the difference between film and video"..

16mm is obviously worth considering.. the quality can be great with a little thought and preparation. Russian cameras are like anything else - you need to exercise a little care and they can be great. My Kinor has never had issues (other than blowing a fuse - the battery cable had a short that I cau...

I agree with CDI that Herzog is not strictly or even primarily a postmodernist - romanticism is a huge presence in the films of his that I've viewed...

[A]nti-rational. It is a surreal truth. You can't do much with this kind of truth within the frameworks of western philosophy or science. Perhaps this kind of truth can only find illumination in cinema.

Oh, I forgot. 'Seizon' will be available on DVD within a few months. I'm quite busy right now, but by April will have time to put together a nice package.

I agree with most of the previous posters... the 'features' you mention are more like limits leading to the cliched look. My list:

battery operated
accurate exposure metering with full manual mode
24 fps required
quality lens
durable/reliable (excludes the French ones)

as for the splitting, are you in fact exporting to a fat hd or other system with this limitation, or is just fcp 3 being too clever for its own good? i'm just curious. I'm curious about this as well, but for a different reason - one time when I came against a 2GB limitation was when I was reverse t...

but I do agree with the author on one thing: .... sense of dullness I don't see that at all, though. The only Dardenne stuff I've seen is "L'Enfant" and about ten minutes of "La Promesse" and five minutes of "Rosetta," but it's so intentional and meticulous in the cons...

It's a town in the mountains called Yu-mura. The place is primarily known for hot springs, associated hotels/inns, and a place where heated water flow is set up along the frigid river. Those are the steamy shots with people and the one with eggs in a net. They hard-boil them in the sulfur-rich water...

Those are some production stills from my current 16mm film that accidentally slipped in ;)

I took V2 50D and 500T, but ended up only using 50D in Japan. I did shoot a roll of 500T, wide-open, in Kowloon along Nathan Road at night. I hope it comes out.

still photos from Japan

I took these over break. All digital (sorry) shot with a Pentax DL. I did take a Scoopic M, but I don't have the footage now. Comments welcome. I was going to post annotations but couldn't find the option in the program where I generated the gallery. The images are pretty clear about a sort of narra...

Interesting but ultimately an untenable argument, at least to the extent that anything can be tenable (or not) regarding films... Bruno's 'transformation' (not really what it was) seemed initiated to me following the incident with the kid in the river. I need to see L'Enfant again. My issue, althoug...

I'm back from Japan and HK. Yeah its also the only film than reminded me of what is was really like to be a teenager All About Lily Chou-Chou was more successful at this, IMO, especially in terms of engaging with media culture. Neither film specifically resembles my own life, though, so maybe it's j...

because they are stories we have seen too much of in human history... Marie Antoinette for instance, what a bore, much more fascinating the revolutionary figures (and counter revolutionaries) involved in the actions on the street I don't know. To me, if films focused only on the 'revolutionary figu...
