Re: The return of Ektachrome - CES 2017

I'll post this winge here so nobody sees it. :| Regarding the predicted cost of the new Ektachrome Super 8 cartridge is to be around $US40, I say it's totally unfair to the Super 8 user. Why is Super 8 so expensive compared to 16mm? There is 4 times as much film in a 100' roll of 16mm than a 50' ca...

Re: Reloading single-8 carts with super-8

Wittner transfered the domainname when it was abandonded. It is a misstatement to think or declare that the content went along. Your friend lost the super8data because he didn't keep a copy on a computer under his control when he abandonded the account of the hosting provider. Wittner is not to bla...

Re: Reloading single-8 carts with super-8

Is that just a matter of putting the batteries in backwards? How do I revert the P2 motor? I guess I'll need to buy a really trashed out one, the only P2 I own has never been used since purchased. Got it last month. Actually I'd need to find a source of bulk S8. I like the stuff from Retro-8 but it...

Re: Reloading single-8 carts with super-8

Apart from abandoning the super8data website the little **** also seems to have deleted his videos. Some contributor. If I remember rightly, super8data didn't have any videos uploaded, just info and pictures. The video of the single-8 recharger machine was made by the man who built it and is not re...

Re: Reloading single-8 carts with super-8

Is this machine something I can buy somewhere, or find plans for, online? I need this in my life! Thanks This machine was made as a unique model. The author is not building this kind of instruments anymore. You can make something similar if you buy a Fujica P2 and adjust the motor to run in backwar...

Re: The return of Ektachrome 100D - CES 2017

Not exactly 100D. They'll be reformulating Ektachrome, so expect -with a bit of luck- a better film stock ;)

Re: Fomopan R100

Our home developer was called ALMA-345, that is a simple five-components formula, a Phenidone-hydroquinone recipe. Would you mind sharing the recipe? Looks quite interesting! (On a private message, if you prefer) Phenidone based developers always gave me inferior results to Metol, so I'm very curio...

Re: how to clean the camera gate of single 8 camera

The only thing I do is to get a lens cleaning cloth and pass it inside the gate several times, pressing the gate with the fingers.
I don't know if there's a better way to do it without removing the gate.

Re: Samples from In My Image 4k scan - down to HD

I'd definitely vote to keep it in 4:3. Not only is that the aspect ratio you filmed in, it will look the best and there is nothing wrong with 4:3 even for filming today. +1 Your film has been shot for 4:3, so 4:3 is the only possible answer. Years ago, widescreen films got visually mutilated with P...

Re: Fomapan redux

So what are the inconsistencies you get between films? Is the film speed a little more or less than the 100 asa it's supposed to be? I've filmed then watched 3 of them so far and have not noticed a difference between them yet. Differences in batches are noticiable if you process the film on a regul...

Re: Fomapan redux

Yes, John. Everybody who have processed this film knows about the problems between different batches.
By the way, Dr5 are just relocating their business in another place.
