The motor is a specific one made only by Kodak. It has a cradle for the camera and serves as the base for a tripod. You can sometimes find them on ebay, though I've only seen one for sale that was guaranteed working.

Re: Filmo 70A teardown
Answered my own question. The fit between the chassis and the shutter plate are very tight. Add 80 years of aluminum corrosion which was not very much at all but enough to effectively weld the pieces together. I did a little gentle persuasion with a flat blade screwdiver and succeeded in separating ...

Filmo 70A teardown
I was just given yet another Filmo today (my fourth now) and it's a 70A. Unfortunately, its missing the lens but I can find one, surely. My question is, how do I remove the shutter from this one? The 70D and all its variants are easy but the 70A is a different beast. The governor is inside the shutt...

Re: Gauge Film - times slots?
You get much better consistency in the whole process and better results if you do a lot of film at once instead of doing individual jobs piecemeal. Once you let the chemistry start to sit you get chunks precipitating which can and often do, wind up in the rollers. Also every time a replenisher is lo...

Re: Filmo filters?
I'll try a green filter. I just have to find that stack of gels again. We're changing a bunch of the layout and function of one of the rooms in our house and I'm not sure where I put the gels. Anyway... Is there a reason that both of my filmos, one is a DR one is a DL, have the numeral 2 engraved ne...

Re: Filmo filters?
Thanks for the tips. I got mine all fabbed up with an ND9 filter under a ring I fashioned from a cut faucet washer. None of our local parts stores have real metal snaprings which are both the correct diameter AND appropriately thin. Anyway, it holds the gel just fine. Have you had any problems with ...

Filmo filters?
Next month I'm hoping to be shooting our July 4th parade here in Philly from the back seat of one of the classic cars in the parade. It's undoubtedly going to be bright, regardless of the weather. I'll be shooting TriX or DXN, depending upon my mood and if I really feel like doing the developing mys...

Re: 7232 16mm film info
Any recommendations on good cook books? Something for the layman =p~ :D Yes, The Darkroom Cookbook. By Steven Anchell. You can learn how to limit base fog from years of expiration. Regarding the film in your previous post, there is no remjet on it. Otherwise you'd have had carbon black everywhere. ...

Re: 7232 16mm film info
In my above post the first number should be 1232, not 1231. I mis-typed and can no longer edit the post.

Re: 7232 16mm film info
Are you sure its not 1231? There is no data sheet for 7232. If it is 1232, then it is Super-XX on a nitrate base not an acetate base and the film needs to be handled carefully as over time it can degrade and spontaneously catch fire. It could also be 7222 the venerable XX which has been around since...

Re: 16mm Filmo 70D lens combinations
Found it.
There is a bit of a chart for turret lens combinations in the B&H 70DL manual. Funny that I already had the answer in my computer and on my phone but hadn't paid attention to it until now.

Re: Tripod Talk
Unfortunately, in many larger cities such as here in Philadelphia and in New York, one needs a permit to use a tripod. A sturdy monopod is a good way around that rule if one wants to shoot stabilized. I have a lightweight monopod that I'm sure will find its way under my Filmos but it is no substitut...

16mm Filmo 70D lens combinations
Is there a guideline for a minimum and maximum focal length one should mount on a camera with a turret? I'm thinking I don't want my long focal length lens in the field of view of my wide. I know a lot of variation exists with regard to physical dimensions and lens design comes into play as well. Si...

I really want to find a Filmo 70 focusing alignment gauge at a price that isn't outrageous.
