Re: Films and Info I Would Like to See

Wow, I look into some old posts, hadn't been here in a while and I find one that's pertinent today. I am currently working on such a project.

Re: Sound recording with Pulse generator

Mag stripe on film? Way cool, been years since I've worked with that. Who's doing your film striping? I didn't know anyone did that anymore. I knew a guy on here who kept some pre striped Ektachrome and some Kodachrome, but I doubt that's still around, he had kept it frozen. Kodachrome won't be able...

Re: Sound recording with Pulse generator

I haven't done much with any of the 8mm formats in awhile, and outside of old mag stripe, I have no experience with modern syncing methods, but most of the folks I have talked to say its not an issue. Crystal sync is the best way to go, but if the camera has a good stable motor, you might get away w...

Name This Old Movie Where Super 8 is Lampooned

None of the movie sites can name this film by a scene description, so I figured I would ask the super 8 aficionados. I know I remember the scene because I'm a super 8 fan. Anyway, I'm pretty sure the film is a British comedy from the 60's, don't remember much else about it except this one scene. The...

16mm Film Stock for Sale

I have some Tri X left over from the summer when I was teaching for the New York Film Academy. I was planning to use it, but don't see me doing that any time soon, so I have a craigslist ad. I'm in Sebring, Fl these days. Here's the ad, letting it go cheap. http://cfl.craigslist.org/pho/3518028712.h...

Films and Info I Would Like to See

Small format films are all over youtube as well as videos of folks showing off their old cameras and projectors. There's videos of Fairchild Cinephonic 8 cameras,Bell and Howell projectors and plenty of people's home movies and test footage. I'm just curious as to what happened with some of the more...

Re: Looking for a Canon Interval Timer E

I was afraid of something like that, I seem to remember an old Super 8 Filmaker issue that had an article on how to make an intervalometer out of an old electric alarm clock. I don't remember what issue that was though.

Re: Looking for a Canon Interval Timer E

I don't care what kind of timer it is as long as it works. Do you know where I can find something suitable? Perhaps cheaper?

Digitally Preserving Old, Damaged Film and Sound

I have some old films I shot as a kid back in the early 70's that I want to transfer, yet much of the film has been damaged. My original plan was to transfer the damaged parts via a J/K optical printer with a digi camera head one frame at a time and have any jitter removed with software. Is there a ...

Re: Viewer and Splicer Recommendations

Thanks for pointing that out, Wade. I've never used a J/K beofre, but I have experience with optical printers back in the day. I used to do opticals on a custom built system that utilised a Mitchell camera head. It's my understanding that software exists to remove much, if not all the jitter. I have...

Viewer and Splicer Recommendations

I am looking for a super 8 viewer with a good, bright , sharp screen, dual 8 would be nice , but not a necessity. I have a Wurker splicer, but the splices seem to labour intensive for the project I'm working on. I am attempting to repair some films for telecine , some are damaged to the point where ...

Time Lapse With Canon 814 AZ

I'm going to be shooting some time lapse of a day on Lake Ontario with a Canon 814AZ on E100D. Been awhile since I've messed with any kind of film, if I'm not mistaken, the 814 is cart notched to handle the new film stocks, so the camera's auto iris should work on single frame as the lighting change...
