My music video on Finish TV - this week!

Post by Andreas Wideroe »

A music video I made for the Norwegian band "Searching for Nurmes" will be played on Finish TV this week.

Nordiska Videolistan" at YLE2, Finland.

http://www.yle.fi/extrem/musik/nvllistan.php

The name of the song is "Halti", now go vote for it!

See the video and listen to the music here:

Searching for Nurmes

PS! The entire video was shot with 10 rolls of Kodachrome 40.

very good looking video. how do you get videos played there? as you may have noticed i have one that i'm trying to push. :-) neither the band nor the label are trying very hard getting the video out since the band isn't known outside of the stockholm rock scene anyway, but i want it to be shown for its "cinematic" qualities even if nobody cares about the song. and perhaps the swedish speaking minority in finland would appreciate the swedish lyrics, i don't know.

Very good video! And the song was not bad at all. One of the best so far that I have seen here. I'll try to see it on tv.

mattias,

Yle is very friendly to Nordic acts. For me it is easy to get played there since none of the Danish record companies bother sending their videos in, but I don't know with the Swedish. Just send them a BetaSP along with release details, remember to include the ISRC code on the cassette. Same goes for Mtv Nordic BTW.

I saw that on Finnish TV during last Saturday and I thought it must be transfered by Andreas! Great you have done it all!

BTW. The album of this band is named "SISU" and my half year old son has also same name (Sisu Sillanpaa)!

Sisu means something like determination, guts, persistence or perseverance in English. The term finnish Sisu ("suomalainen sisu") was well known during WWII.
Best Regards

No, Dave. They're not my legs. They belong to one of the two musicians. All the other stuff I'll leave to your imagination.

Mattias,
I didn't have anything to do with the video being played at YLE. The management did everything. I actually finished this video last summer and hadn't heard much about it since. So it sort of took me by surprise (good one though) that they're album is out and that they're playing the video. Fun to see your own stuff on the telly.

If you look at the list of tracks they're all names of towns or places in Finland I think.

The video ended on 4th place and beat Bertine Zetlitz which is pretty big in Norway. It will be screened next saturday aswell.

Go and vote for it here: http://www.yle.fi/extrem/musik/nvllistan.php

That may have been the clearest and sharpest Super 8 I have ever seen.
What was done in the transfer and was anything done in post to get such a excellent and clear footage. Fantastic job!!

Nothing was done in post. The film was scanned with my Workprinter XP. I shot it with my Beaulieu 4008zmII (schneider lens) and used my Panasonic NV-MX300 3CCD camera with the WP.
