Mains lead for Bolex 18.5

Post by john59 »

Hi guys, im really struggling to find a mains lead for both my Bolex standard 8 and super 8 projectors.
Ive looked high and low for a quick fix to this and even considered rewiring another type of socket onto the said projectors. Has anyone on here had any success doing this modification?

You may be able to modify a European extension cord if it is the proper size, they do look similar. I have heard that some older appliance cords will work but have never found one that does.

Ooops, I was thinking of the cord on the Bolex M8. The cord on the 18-5 series is similar to a standard US type plug except the prongs are slightly closer together. It looks like the C9/C10 in your second link. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ger%C3%A4 ... testeckers.

This is a translation of the description:
Precursor of the IEC power connector

One of the C9 / C10 standard similar compound, but with ground wire , it was up to the 1960s . The connector found , inter alia, of high quality audio equipment , cinema projectors [ 3 ] or electrical laboratory equipment. They are specified for a maximum of 6 A and have a contact distance of 10 mm. The protective conductor is transmitted similarly to the old hot- plug with metal tabs . The housing is made of Bakelite , a few from white Meladur ( amino )
I have tried to find these cords in the US with no luck. This may work, no guarantees: http://www.kenstanton.com/Power-Cord-IE ... MgodQQEAUA

Wittner has one that looks like the right one.
Look in category "Vorführtechnik".
It's called: "Gerätestecker, alte Version"

I wouldn't take a chance with only one picture. It talks of "circular" 6mm connectors. That's not it.
