8mm camera

I have a Bell and Howell camera film speed set on 40 but black and white film is 100.If i use a orange filter on camera should film develop good?

No.
(The 40 ASA remains 40 ASA despite the orange filter - that is unless that B&H camera is very old one with a separate "Electric Eye" and the filter only covers the EE.)
