Workprinter Telecine and HPX & XL2

Post by jreed3590 »

I'll try and keep this brief, but I've been struggling with the Moviestuff Workprinter I've been using lately. My boss has had nothing but success using this exact one to transfer hours of film a few years ago. Now that we've moved the system from his house to our office however, neither of us can seem to find the correct setting inside the camera (or elsewhere) to transfer a quality print.

Our main problem is that each time we go to transfer, we get this sort of waterfall, blending, blurring between ever couple frames. The exact term I'm not sure of, but the link below has an example of what I'm talking about.

This particular clip was shot on the HPX, but we've also tried the XL2 and can't seem to get the issue to resolve itself. Any ideas? It's really starting to get to both of us as he's used the HPX (and the similar HVX) for transfers before but now can't get it to work. I hope I'm being clear. Thanks for your help!

EDIT:

I should explain, this slippage, blending effect (not sure what to call it exactly) can sometimes be noticed on the lcd screen. I think my main question is what sort of internal camera settings (if that is the issue) need to be set, ie, frame rate, recording format, shutter speed, etc.

Thanks

If I were to guess, I'd say it looks like pulldown blur. Take a look at Step 10 from this link:
