cross processed 64t
I recently completed this music video using cross processed 64t.
I really like the look although the grain can be pretty crazy. I wasn't specially scientific about exposure v. processing times so i think there's room for improvement. I exposed normally (in case i had to abandon the iedea after a first dev test) and slightly pushed in processing.
you'll find it here:

it was shot on a Canon 1014XL-S @ 18fps
processed at home

I really like that, looks great
Re: cross processed 64t
Very interesting look!
I pretty like it.
Have you tried to project the footage? I wonder how it is look like.
The music video itself is also very nice and special.
Well done!
Raz.

I cant because it's a negative. Well I guess I could but...
We really need a printing service cheaper than andec. Being able to print from neg would be really very cool. I havn't projected anything for ages

Hi Mat,
I like what you have got there. I think your simple images complemented the song very nicely, and the cross processing gave the simple images a richness they might not have had otherwise. The song is very nice too. She could go far.
cheers,
Richard

Thanks,
Mat
A portrait style thing is not my instinct at all, it came from the initial idea the producer had. So the cross processing was my way of getting into it in a way. I knew i'd need lots of close ups because of the grain and 64ts properties generally.richard p. t. wrote: the cross processing gave the simple images a richness they might not have had otherwise.

Oh, I thought it turns out positive.moviemat wrote:I cant because it's a negative. Well I guess I could but...

And yes, cheaper super 8 printing service will be great! I really want to try it once, but it's too expensive...
I forgot to say about the singer's beautiful voice!
I agree with richard she can really go far with that.

Re: cross processed 64t
I have been cross-processing photos for ages and was always wondering how it would come out in super8.
It looks great!. I love the purple tinge it has given to the blacks in the full close-ups.

I'm on my second roll of 100D 16mm I plan to cross process and print. I'm exposing it as 50ASA for some density, so we'll see what happens. Cross processing S8 100D would be interesting... the grain is much finer than 64T, so the added won't be as bad.
100D and Vision 3 please

Great! I loved it. Question--how did you get the selective focus effect on the right side of her face--did you use a filter?
Re: cross processed 64t
Not sure which shots you mean but when she's standing next to a mirror it was a fabric mirror and we had a stack of speakers behind it so that it wobbled with the big piano notes. Some of the close ups are of that mirror so it's doing weird stuff. I hope that's what you mean.Macnessa wrote:Question--how did you get the selective focus effect on the right side of her face--did you use a filter?
I'm not that big on effects so there's nothing like that - except for when she is facing forward and her reflection is facing back. But I couldn't do everything I wanted with that because the grain was so heavy and the processing irregular so a chroma key wouldn't work as i wanted.

I took a look at it again, and thats it, didn't notice it before. It's a great effect, dreamy, and it reminds me of a tilted large format still lens. Happy accident I guess.
Great job. She must be happy.
