Fuji Film's processing system comes back!

Post by Muddy »

This is a good news.

On 20th December, Fujifilm Imaging Co.,Ltd restarted Single-8 process.

The ultra-sonic splicing machine was out of order for just one week.

So, are you saying that this is permanent? Are they producing film also?

Thanks,

Hi,

Either Fuji has already stopped production (with the last batch having a "best before March 2007") or Fuji will make the last batch of Fujichrome R25N/RT200N in March 2007. Processing and sound-stripping will stop in 2008 (I forgot the exact date, but it should have been posted on this board).
Retro8 and GK-Film will continue to produce the Cinevia and other films (400ASA colour reversal, 200 ASA b&w reversal,...). Single8film.com will start selling reloadable single8-cartridges soon.
Retro8 can process the Fujichrome after Fuji has stopped its service, too. (There are some other companies like Super8.nl, Kahl Films, FFR,... that MIGHT be able to process Fujichrome, too).
Other than Fuji it looks like there are only two German companies that MIGHT be able to do the sound-striping with Fujichrome with one of them only being able to add the main soundtrack.

Fujifilm Imaging announced it to customers

Post by Muddy »

Fujifilm Imaging Co., Ltd has started announcing restart of Single-8 processing to the customer.
They sent a report paper with processed film, and they say;

------------------------------
Dear customer

Thank you very much for usually receiving special kindness from the product of our company.

Thank you indeed for ordering "development of 8mm film" this time.

Because the breakdown of the development processing equipment had occurred some days ago among our company, we were going to stop the processing procedure temporarily unavoidably.

However, because we had finished recovery efforts, we came to be able also to do the processing procedure.

We plan announcement of the restart of the processing procedure to the customer through the shop, however, I hope you will acknowledge processing your ordered 8mm film before announcement of restart.
I apologize for troubling the customer.

Please inquire about 8mm processing service :

No. Fuji will be shutting down their Single-8 processing facility as scheduled in September, 2008. Muddy is just informing everybody that their processing service is back up and running after a brief equipment problem.

Hello,

Concerning Daylight,

I would recommend Fujifilm to begin simultaneous production of following emultions, formated to 8mm film gauge : Single 8 and Super 8.

color negative (ECN-2)

8522 64 ASA Daylight
Eterna eventual new fine grain (25 to 100 ASA)
//that new color negative should also be available for C-41 processing.
That means that "C-41 cartridges" would have inside a film without the rem-jet carbon layer, allowing for DIY lab (film process)//

color reversal (E6)
fujichrome Velvia II

I suppose that Fujichrome Astia and at least of the Provia's should perform also very well.
