:o Glad to hear this news!

If you want, I could help for providing news of single-8 world here in Japan.

There are plenty of interesting thing happening in Japan.

For exsample, I met a guy who own a Metal factory, and he made a single-8 adapter for his Canon 1014XL. He shown me the result, and... I was impressed by the image of single-8 from 1014!!

Good luck, and all the best with your magazine!

Did he make more than one adapter? And what kinda modification the Canon needs?
BTW, Can the 1014 XL-S be fixed for that Beaulieu 60m Super drive mag?

Mikko

ps. How's S8 scene in Japan? Do people use more Single 8 than Super 8? thanks!

 Hi Mikko,

Your name sound like a Japanese.

Yes, S8 shooter in Japan are mostly using single-8, as Tokyo's Fuji Lab process the film every Wedensday.

So if one live near the lab, (Tokyo is not too big), one could bring the film to the lab on wedensday morning, and get the film back on thursday noon (ONE DAY!!)

As I know he only made two adapters so far, one for Canon, and one for Elmo 1012XL, He simply cut a square hole on the top of the camera, which is same size of the old 200ft cart hole.

therfore Elmo 1012XL doesn't need any modification, and easy to use the adapter.

This guy recently organizing a 8mm club, where he will show some interessting short film for the members, maybe I will go there next time too!!

He also shown how the adapter works in the site.

Best

i read an online article in USA Today this morning about print-on-demand. very interesting.

http://www.usatoday.com/tech/products/s ... ooks_x.htm

did a little research and there are some very interesting opportunities for niche magazines. been a long time since Cinemagic and Super8Filmmaker so i'll be interested in seeing how this project turns out.

This is a great idea - but you'll have trouble keeping up with the immediacy of the net - - but there's nothing like seeing something in print - it could work well if you source stories or interviews that aren't on the net yet - you'll get a dedicated base of subscribers -- and you'll be able to desktop publish it all your self too

good luck - look forward to it
