Welcome to the new General 8mm forum!

Post by Andreas Wideroe »

Dear fellow filmmakers and 8mm cine fans,
It's a pleasure to finally announce the release of this new discussions board. After months of searching for the right one I actually thought I had found one about a month ago. I spent 5 days and nights to implement it, but the board turned out to be filled with security bugs which made it impossible for me (and you) to use it. Then the search had to restart.

Three days ago I decided to go for a board that is based on a database. I don't know much about databases so it was a challenge, but I did it! Today I finally finished the installation of another, much more powerful board which I hope you all will enjoy and use to the full extent.

There are lots of options here, so please let me know if you Ie. want a special board for your manual requests or similare.

Your host,
Andreas Widerøe Andersen :D

PS! I will still do some minor design changes, but posts will not be affected.

Dude! This is terrific! I love the fact that we can post photos (finally!). Now everyone can see what a homely S.O.B I am. Well done, Andreas. Three cheers from the peanut gallery.

Pip-pip.

A great job

and all the fancy bits seem easy to use

and I will not be making a habit of this!

a little problem - it claimed my user name was already in use!
Changing it to Fred works!

You have to mark the checkbox "remember me" when you log in the first time.

This is soooo cool Andreas. I feel like a kid on christmas morning again. Is there anyway you could post instructions for people so attatch stills to thier posts? Do we have to upload them to other webspace and then make a URL link or something? Maybe describe the rules for uploading short films and the sort. My film is almost done and would love to show some clips or maybe a compressed version of the fiteen minute completed file. Let us know what toys and tricks this forum can offer!!

Keep up the Great Work!

How-to include images!

Post by Andreas Wideroe »

Let's try something:

Image
Me and 2 of my cameras (Beaulieu 4008zmII and Nalcom FTL).
Image
A small portion of my setup. The WorkPrinter3 can be seen here!
Image
Who's this?
Image
Oh no, not again!?

Ok, I just played around with a webcamera and it seems to be very easy to add pictures to the posts.

Now, how do I do it?

Here is the code to add pictures.

Code: Select all

Click on the Img button above, insert the URL to where your pictures are and click the Img button again. It's as simple as that! If you don't have anywhere to put your pictures, you can upload them to ftp.filmshooting.com. I'll think about making this easier, but hopefully you all have somewhere to put your pictures.

:!: IMPORTANT NOTICE!
Make sure you don't include images wider than 500 pixels. Otherwise it will ruin the design. I will remove pictures that does this. Now, have fun, play around and keep us all occupied with 8mm stuff!

Hey, we want the full file! :D I'll write an explination soon. To put it short, FTP it up to ftp.filmshooting.com (username: anonymous, password: your email) and put it in the upload directory.

Maybe a new thread should be started where you put up pictures of your Super 8 setup! I'll try to take some pictures of mine.

FTP, no not me

Post by supa_ate_sixteen »

Andreas I dont understand what FTP ing means? I am on a Mac and unless the upload option is there on the directory window, then I have no idea how to do it. How do you actually upload the file? What internet program do I use? Netscape has a publish feature that I might be able to use, but its all a little confusing right now. Can you accomodate a full movie file size?
