Where do you send your lenses in for cleaning?

Post by Arislan »

I have some dirt inside my Fujinon zoom. Since Paul Cotto is gone, I don't know where else I can get that lens cleaned. Who do you guys use?

Thanks, Gerald, I think I should have mentioned I'm in the United States, hehe. If anyone knows somewhere in America that would do it, please let me know.

Maybe Pro8mm?

Paul Duclos is the best in the USA specializing in lens repair for the motion picture industry, and has been in business for decades. Lenses are shipped to him for repair from all over the world. For those who read this and may want a lens repaired which was made specifically for 8mm or super 8, he no longer has all the equipment necessary to work on them. I believe his rate is $75/hr. https://www.ducloslenses.com

If you live near a major city you should check for rental houses. The best ones usually have a lens tech on staff and maybe you can get them to help you for beer or a reasonable fee. In Dallas MPS has a decent lens tech.

Dulcos is probably your best and most reliable bet, you can try also try CinemaTechnic at http://cinematechnic.com/services/cine_lens_service. Jorge has a long history in the business and could build you a lens from scratch.

Also try Charles Pickel at Serious Gear Co. He converted my Zeiss 10-100 to a Super 16 12-120 and did a great job so I bet he can get your lens cleaned up nicely. http://seriousgear.com
